As an Asian-American, I am totally outraged at the stupidity of the Spanish people. This is not a gesture of being funny or friendly to the Chinese people. It's an insult! I wrote to both the IOC and BOCOG and attached the Spanish team website expressing the disturbing images that the spanish team seem to think is OK.

That's my story.......

This may just me being naïve but I don't think they are doing it to be racist, I think they are just totally out of touch with what is acceptable and unacceptable. Why would a country want to show themselves up to be racist on the world stage in front of possibly the largest audience you will ever get? I think it is good-natured but they just drastically misread how people would take/view it.

Spain has done this before. Fans' racism returns to taint games in Italy and Spain - International Herald Tribune Israel Soccer Player to Head Anti-Racism Initiative (http://racerelations.about.com/b/2006/03/08/israel-soccer-player-to-head-anti-racism-initiative.htm - broken link)

Lol relax everybody. They are not doing it to be racist, they just don't know any better. They have a different culture than in the US.

Even when i lived in Russia, it was common there to openly say the "N" word. Nobody thought anything of it.

It seems that Americans and Canadians overall are a little uptight when it comes to race compared to the rest of the world.
