Why not have the Cowboys or the Steelers? I know way too many Steelers fans who have never even been to Pittsburgh.

This is a hard question to ask. I mean I HATE the Yankees but love the Sox. I love the Packers and HATE the Cowboys. There are people out there who hate the Red Sox. I dont think there is one team the whole country loves.
Team USA basketball is loved by most but that would be a special case.

I would say the packers. isn't the team owned by the people? that alone makes them the most beloved. I don't like the packers, but I don't hate them. the problem with the yankees and the redsox is that they are also two of the most HATED teams.

Although the Yankee and Red Sox fans battle all the time, it has to be the longest rivalry going. With the Yankees, I was a huge Mickey Mantle fan growing up. I became a bigger fan when he went public with his lifestyle and poor choices he made earlier in life. It takes a big man to admit his mistakes, especially to tens of millions on national tv. Lou Gehrig. One of the classiest ballplayers ever to play. And the sox-Ted Williams was the best hitter in the history of baseball. Amongst accomplishments through WW-2 and Korean War heroics, and his excellence on the field is one subject that only hard core Sox fans know of-giving back. Without publicity or fanfare, he quietly raised tens of millions of dollars for the "Jimmie Fund", for raising money for children with cancer.

I'd say the Packers, maybe the Cubs. I agree with others on the post about the Yankees and Red Sox; they could probably be at the top of a most loved and most hated teams. I think the Cowboys could probably fit in their as well.
