Default Steel Shafts -vs- Graphite Shafts

I can't choose over steel or graphite clubs, I'm setting 500 aside for my new clubs and I'm leaning towards graphite for that extra 15-20yds.

Personally, I like a club that can stand me smashing it into the ground after I shank another drive.

I have a Titleist 905 and love it.

Much depends on handicap. Where would be the point of another 15yds further into the rough??
If not too long a player, but pretty straight, go for graphite. If a little wayward, stick with steel..
"Be true to thyself"...After all, we all hit the ball long and straight everytime...Don`t we???

Irons or Woods? I wouldn't' even consider steel for my driver. But still use steel for my 15/19 degree FWs as I feel that I have more control with them. But that will probably change next year when i get fitted. As for Irons - I'd stick with steel as you have more control...and 15yds on your irons isn't really enought to pay more. If you need 15 more yards.. just grab a longer club.

But for best results (regardless of what you chose)...having them fitted will be your best bet. As Lincolnshire said.... distance isn't everything... especially when the biggest factor to your score is usually how well you do within 100 yards.

I slice graphite like no other so I use a very stiff steal shaft. If I was actually good at golf I would choose graphite.
