any canoeing fans out there? (Suns, race, best)

How about it, do we have any canoe fans here on CD. Especially those who are experts at it?
My wife and I are looking into buying one this summer and we would love to hear you thaughts on which kind is the best, at a not so high cost.

So, give us your input and any pics that you may have.

We need a thread just for boats, conoe and kayaks. Hint! Hint!

I'm sorry I can't lend any advice on the best brand to purchase, but I too share the love of a day spent in a canoe, or the like.

The most beautiful experiences in a canoe, etc. IMO are spent in the western portion of this country. It is my desire to get back there and spend many a beautiful moment (even if alone) on the water, taking in many a beautiful sunset!

Why not tell us what you expect your canoe to do, so others might be able to make an informed recomendation?

I just moved to Hill Country Texas and can't wait to get into Canoeing and Kayaking. There is a 4 day race here in June that starts in San Marcos and goes to the Gulf ... I want to prepare for that, my goal is to participate in 2010 ... that being said I have weak little arms so I have to get to it
