How do you know if your Kentucky Derby Ticket is a winner (tickets, sport)

A friend had some co-workers buy some tickets. We are girls who know nothing about sports and my husband is at work so we have no one to ask..

I picked horse #8 as my first choice. It says Trifecta on the ticket. Does that mean that I had to have ALL THREE to win or just the fact that I have #8?

I think it does mean you have to win all three.....not 100% sure maybe someone with more betting experience will tell you but that is the definition......

With this bet you must pick the first three finishing horses in the order of their finish. In other words, you must pick the horse that wins, the horse that finishes second and the horse that finishes third.

You better be sure you don't have the winning combo. The winning trifecta paid 41,500.60 if you had the first three finishers.
