Triathlons and multisport
who here has gone the distance, or would like to some day? Your time could be now! A sprint triathlon is within your reach. Like to swim bike & run? Just put them together and you're ready to go! 1/4 mile swim, 10 mile bike, and 3 mile run may sound daunting, but you can do it!!!!!
Afterwards, we'll talk about Olympic distance
I nearly proposed to my wife when she crossed the finish line at Wildflower out in California! Only thing that stopped was knowing what she'd be feeling since I had done St. Anthony's the week before Florida

I like to do all 3 (swim, bike, and run/jog). But it's the training that I can't seem to squeeze in my schedule. I just run/jog and do some swimming. I haven't been on a bike for a while now, but I can try it again. I don't know, we'll see.

try putting all 3 together early saturday morning! If you're out there by 7am you can wrap up by 9 and have the whole day in front of you.

I can't imagine doing one of those. I can do all the elements but can't picture putting them all together in a competitive setting. I'm also quite shy about things like that. I'll go out and run 10 miles at 5am just so no one will see me. A friend tried to talk me into doing the Iron Woman at Catalina Island(I think). Just too many people watching.

Well, I've always been a runner/jogger. But I decided to join a Running Group in my area. I finally found one here. So, I'll do that (we start 4:30 in the morning, 3 days a week) and then I can find a good professional bike and train on that. The swimming??....I'll have to figure that one out. The swim lap thing is only about 2 times a week at the public pool up here. So, we'll see...Thanks, TriDad.

Sprint triathlons don't draw the same crowds as the Ironman competitions. If anything go to one, and you'll see the energy in the crowd, and how the triathletes actually draw from that excitement to propel themselves across the finish line! I bet after being a spectator at one, you'll want to sign up for one yourself soon. Good luck!

at some point you should find an open body of water to practice in too. It's a whole other ballgame from swimming lap lanes in a pool. If anything, you need to be able to "sight the shore" so you don't accidentally swim out to sea

Well, I have a problem with that, because the nearest beach is 400-500 miles away from me. I wished I was in Florida (I'm still thinking of moving there, still).
