I know sports is a business and all that, but I sure hate how just about every team nowadays sells the naming rights to their sports venue. There used to be a sense of local identity in the names. Now it's all corporate. So out of all the stadiums and arenas out there, which ones have the worst names.

Any one of them named after a bank or that have the word bank in them. I hate that stadiums are named after corporations. But that's big league sports these days, all about the $$$

Agree with Coolhand68. PetCo has to make me gag the most though.

(Only glad that's not a football stadium's name right now, thank goodness!)

While we're at it, the Mets' Park should be re-named
"TaxPayers' Bailout Field".

All of the stadiums named after banks and telecommunications companies are bad (eg, AT&T Park, Qualcomm Stadium, FedEx Field, etc.), as are the ones named after food (Pizza Hut Park, Minute Maid Park [nee Enron Field], Tropicana Field, etc.).

As bad as these are, however, the one that always makes me cringe is University Of Phoenix Stadium (Arizona Cardinals). Partially because it's a confusing name (generally stadiums with "university" in their names are associated with, well, a university), and partially because UoF is an institution of questionable character.

And it makes me think of that annoying jingle they play at the end of their ads....

Any stadium or arena named after a business is a bad name. I hate this trend. One day, all stadiums will have corporate names.

not just the buildings but replays. Fox Sports has the Claritan Clear replay shot. What the hell?! or the Burger King Hot zone.

How about real-time plays?

"Dolezel passes over the middle to Will Pettis who makes the catch at the Pepsi 20 yard line, and that is good enough for a Dawg E. Day's Paw Pet Grooming First Down!"

possibly the worst stadium name right now is energy solutions arena in salt lake city, utah.

ESA is the home of the utah jazz and is named after a company which disposes of nuclear waste.
