Put me down as one who enjoys JVG; he doesn't take his know-it-all persona too seriously, and he isn't afraid to tell the truth where others shy away.
Hawk is retired now so you don't have to worry about him

I was a little skeptical on Tony Romo joining the booth last year with Jim Nantz but he has gotten better and is maturing as a commentator and he does better than Simms because Tony gets excited and Simms doesn't.

Can’t say the same for Jason Witten. He isn’t ready. Take him out and put Booger up there

I watched Troy Aikmen and Joe Buck the other night and I see why so many people cannot stand them. They both have a very flat, laconic, delivery that is more suitable to lectures on the latest techniques on banding piles than making a game exiting.

But they are still better than Verne Lunquist and Gary Danielson ever were.

Buck is so dull and he rarely gets excited during the game and the same goes for Phil Simms. Aikman is arrogant

Phil Simms was dreadful as an analyst and could never make a gutsy remark: any questionable coaching decision, etc... he would just defend it. Back in the day, Charlie Jones on NBC got to even call playoff games occasionally. I guess he was sort of "grandfathered" into the rotation, and has the honor for example, of calling the infamous Buffalo 35-3 rally against the Oilers. It was extremely painful listening him try to do play-by-play, and he often times wasn't actually watching the game as he made a call. "Ok, and the extra point is up and good....oh wait, beg your pardon he missed it" (wide by 50 feet).

Worst ever in basketball was George Raveling on CBS. The ex Iowa and USC coach got moved into the studio after being so bad as an analyst. It didn't get any better however from there. I swore the guy tried to speak while he was choking on fermented milk.

Have to agree on Witten. He's not ready. Probably not ever going to be great tbh. He probably needs to be in the studio.
