Rugby 7's and Golf added to the Olympics?
Don't think I seen it mentioned, was over a week ago that it was published, what do you people think?
Me personally think they're two great sports to be added, in rugby 7's out of the 34 teams on this years circuit, at least 15 of them would realistically have a chance at a medal given how rugby 7's work. Given that these are to be added in 2016, the teams are only going to get better.

I understand that the IRB likes sevens because more nations are competitive, but that's a cheap shortcut to developing the game. This is a new code, now more "pure" than rugby league. I don't think it's established enough to be in the Olympics. Is futsal next?

At the moment it may not be, but by the time the Olympics come around it will be more than established.
Having 7's as a main game rather than 15's for alot of countries helps their development of the 15's games. You see constant improvement in playing numbers, participation levels etc, sevens may not help develop the game in the main nations of NZ, but in Kenya, Uganada, even the US, it helps develop the game greatly.

It develops backs and what else? Do you see fat props or giant locks playing sevens? The game is geared toward a different breed of player.
Also, the fact that it's used to grow the 15-man game says that sevens is not a pure spectacle in its own right.
