Thinking about moving to Springfield because of my job. Are there apartments/houses in the area that have no credit check? I lost my house 2 years to foreclosure. Found an apartment with no credit check on craigslist, and it worked out great since.

Would I be able to find a place in Springfield? My credit score is as low as it gets. Foreclosure, and maxed out credit trying to hang on back then. Good steady job now, but of course, credit history is horrid.

Tried looking on craigslist, found 1 listing for no credit rentals.

Thanks.

Talk with the leasing agent candidly about your situation. I think you'll be surprised at the flexibility some of them have with this situation. Keep the discussion positive. You might run across one or two leasing agents that are haters and anyone and everyone that isn't just like them gets the jerk treatment, but many are regular people and will go the distance to get you in their property if they like you.

Seek out "mom and pop" style landlords who own a few investment properties. They are the ones who are most likely to see the story behind the numbers and to put more focus on employment status and landlord and character references and less on your credit score.

You might try to get your last landlord to give you a good reference.
