If you were going to go to school or work in Springfield but wanted to live outside of "town" on land... which area has the least amount of zoning and restrictions? How far outside of Springfield do you have to go before the "city rules" change and loosen up?

Dallas County is pretty easy as far as regulations.Less than 25 miles from Springfield.

Oh how I wish it were so, Curmudgeon, honey. We had a "big tussle" with the Health Department when we wanted to use a composting toilet instead of putting in a septic system. They still required us to put one in.
Unfortunately, there are more and more rules and requirements every single day here. Not as bad as Christian County, or Greene, of course, but bad enough to get my panties in a knot.
Barry County is better, from what I hear.

Yea in Benton County we didn't have a problem putting a Composting Toilet in.But after spending $1,500 on one we are not happy with it.
Because we are so close to the Lake we can only put in a 1,000 gallon Holding Tank.

They won't let you put in holding tanks or septic lagoons here because they don't "like" them. I am personally disgusted with having to make decisions about my life based upon what someone does or doesn't "like".
My understanding is that some composting toilets are persnickity. We have not had any trouble with ours.
