Question Cabins on a lake to rent in the Ozark area?

My family and I are planning a trip in June 07 for a week. We are making it a vacation while we look around the Springfield area for a future move. My husband retires in 2 years and we are looking at MO. I hear so many wonderfull things about MO, we have to go see for ourselves before we make the big move.

I was wondering if anyone has a place to recommend for us to stay. I would love to rent a cabin on the lake. I would like to be able to walk right out a few feet and have the lake right there. It's hard to tell which places are good just by looking at them on the internet.

Any suggestions would be helpfull.
Thanks,

Springfield is about 45 minutes from any lake lodging. If you want to stay at the lake, try Big Cedar Lodge. I've never stayed there, but I've visited the main lodge and it all looks very nice. It may be a little pricey. I don't know.

mlhanson is on a distinguished road
Default Cabins by Lake Norfork in Tecumseh, Missouri

Our Cabins by the Lake are secluded and away from the main stream camping and fishing spots but are just one mile off Hwy 160 and on a paved road. Secluded yet still within a 30 minute drive or less to two cities and one town.

These cabins offer a unique opportunity to get off the beaten path and have access to thousands of acres of Government Land. Fish the Lake, hunt the wooded back country or just come and visit to enjoy the natural beauty of the Ozarks.

Visit our web site at www.cabinsbythelake.us

Thanks,
Heaton,

The lakes within an hour of Springfield are... Table Rock Lake: http://www.visittablerocklake.com/
...Bull Shoals Lake; Bull Shoals Lake - White River in the Arkansas Ozarks
... Stockton Lake; http://www.stocktonlake.com/
...& Lake Pomme De Terre; Pomme de Terre State Park - Home - Missouri State Parks and Historic Sites, MoDNR.
There's also Lake Taneycomo, if you like fishing, but it's a really cold lake so it's not so much for swimmin... ; Official Branson Site - Chamber of Commerce & CVB, family vacation, lodging, hotels, shows (Let me know if you need a good map of that place...)

Here are a couple of my favorite places in my neck o the woods...on Table Rock Lake:

http://www.rockviewresort.com/
...and Lake Taneycomo...

Have fun. Springfield is a pretty cool place, IMHO.
