I just returned last night from Joplin, Mo., was helping out as a volunteer through a local church there. I cried when I first saw the amount of damage to the homes and other buildings. People are indeed being taken miles away just to have a place to stay. There is so much to be done just to clean up and restore. I hope to go back again later to help.

Trailers don't do well in tornadoes (and I am a long ago tornado survivor) but in a major event like the one that slammed Joplin, nothing does.
I am in Los Angeles, CA doing construction. Interested in the tornado damage
recovery project.I like to join in any project of residential or commercial construction.

I have never been so proud of our nation as I am after our Tornado here in Joplin. I wish our politicians could see a prime example of "working together." I am so tired of Democrats and Republicans picking each other apart and in turn...getting nothing done! This natural tragedy shows that people from all walks of life can come together to aid others in need. When I was huddled underneath my kitchen table that frightful evening...I could of cared less who liked or disliked Obama's policies or why our societies elite have the arrogance to claim that they represent "all americans." I was thinking "Please don't let me die today!" Volunteering is a win win proposition. There is nothing more rewarding than to put words into actions and help others. Thank you all for your compassionate and eagerness to help people that you've never met...just because...it is the "right" thing to do.

Your willingness to come all the way out here to help is awesome! The best place to find information about how to volunteer and give, etc. would probably be Rebuild Joplin They have links about how to give financially, as well as how to go about volunteering.

If you are on Facebook, you can look through the links and information on these two pages that also have info about volunteering: Joplin, MO Tornado Recovery | Facebook and Joplin,MO Recovery | Facebook

The STOP sign at Washington & Juana Ave.'s Safeway parking lot is too low to be seen!

It must be made higher and more visible!!!
