Hi all,
My wife and I are looking at land in Fordland just off PP and I'm wondering what kind of drive time I'd be looking at working DT Springfield? Map says 35 min but if anyone has actual commute time that'd be great.

If by "DT" you mean downtown, I would say that 35 min. would be pretty optimistic. It also depends where on PP you are buying. If you drop down to US 60 it is four lane all the way with (I think) three stoplights between Fordland and the US 60/Glenstone intersection. From US60/Glenstone to downtown is itself 20-25 minutes. Moving up to US60/National might be five minutes shorter or longer, depending upon traffic.

Or you can come in the back way, across AD to 125, then either up to D (E. Sunshine) or in on FR 132 (E. Chestnut). Either would be 30 minutes, I would think, just to the Springfield city limits, but only 15 minutes on to downtown.

The area you are considering has some beautiful land. Good luck to you.

Agree with Arrby. The more time consuming part would be driving through town. I lived just south of DT and just getting to the edge of town took 30 minutes at the least. The only highways in town are on the edges. There are roads they refer to as "Expressways", but the city clogs them with traffic lights for even the smaller side streets. Those factors make it very congested.

I'd budget an hour for the drive.

KL&C, I'm not sure if you are still around, and I don't want to be the naysayer as that's not my style or intention at all.

I just know that Fordland to Springfield is not a commute I would want to do myself. If there's any way you can try out the drive before making a commitment to a land purchase, I'd do it to see how you feel about it.

I might just have a slanted POV because I've done the drive from the Mountain Grove area into Springfield (not as a commute) and I know that even by the time I'm at Fordland, I still feel like it's a bit to Springfield.
