Default March..coffee and a show?

During the last OTFCC get together we talked about doing a show (Darlyn0217 is in charge with the details/dates) but I thought it might be nice to also do a coffee date sometime midweek. We seem to have a few newbies to the forum in the area so a coffee clatch may be a good way for them to meet us in a non-threatening manner.

Perhaps Springfield (Kaldi's?) or Branson (Starbucks at Target like the first get-together?).

Suggestions? Ideas?

Anyone know of any coffee bar type place in Nixa?

Default Are we still on for Sat?

According to the weather reports, we're supposed to have one doozey (sp?) of an ice/snow storm starting tonight and on into Friday.

I really really really hate to say this, but if the roads are still icey by Saturday, I probably won't be going to the meet & greet. Since we're so far away, it just doesn't seem worth the risk for us newbie snow/ice dwellers.

Somebody my husband works with said they heard that depending on where one lives, there could be up to an inch of ice accumulation on the roads. I checked with KY3 weather, and the map shows anywhere from 1/10th to 1/2 inch of ice, depending on location, of course. Not to mention the various inches of snow too. But I must admit, it's going to be absolutely beautiful, won't it?

Call me a wimp. Call me a sissy. I'll admit it. LOL All I can do is pray that the sun comes out and melts it all by Saturday. Maybe MrsG, MrsC or LJ can post an update for their areas as to how the roads look.

Let's hope for the best.

Snowmobile-less,
Boof

Boof's right...so we may have to reschedule once again...last minute, perhaps...and make sure to check our computers before we leave home...? What a bummer! Well, maybe BabyFace can still join us if we have to reschedule. I look forward to seeing everyone whether at a coffee...or at dinner...or at a show!

Boof, I heard on the news tonight that you are in one of the areas that might get some heavier stuff. Hope you got stocked up today! Stay warm and try to enjoy your time inside! I hope your husband doesn't have to get out if the roads are bad!

Awww, MrsG,

Thank you for the kind wishes. Hubby did go to work today. He said I-44 wasn't too bad, but parts of I-65 were a little tricky. We've got quite a bit of frozen rain on the ground...prolly 1/2 inch so far, but it's not icy, so that's a good thing. We'll see how it goes the rest of the day. ***Boof crosses fingers***

I guess we can all just keep checking back as for the status of our Saturday meet at Keeter in Branson. And if it doesn't work out, well, we'll just reschedule. But, like you said, hopefully we'll get to see BabyFace & the others that couldn't make it this time. Yeah!!!!

MrsC,

That's a good idea to have another Coffee Clatch to welcome in some of the newer members of the forum. While I don't know of anything in Nixa, I did like that place we went to in the south of Springfield. I can never remember the name. LJ would know. It's the place where G4 first joined in.

Speaking of LJ, where is she??? It's not the same around here without her bright smiling face.

'Nuff for now,
Boof

Here I am! Bright...smiling...

Had to run out to CA for a surprise birthday party for my lil' sis...
(She turned 50...)
I have to say, it was lovely to hang around in Sonoma County for a few days, but it's always good to get home.

Is this ice storm my welcome?

So ok...I'll post about the roads on Saturday...but they're saying here that it'll be all over by then.

We got sleet & rain this morning and I only went to the office for a little while because they're saying it's going to freeze. But the main roads are all open. A lot of businesses are closed today just because many employees live out on the back roads... An' because it's February.

I can't wait to see you all. Are we having any new members?

Default Brrrr!!

Howdy!! Yep, it's pretty icky out there! Only gonna get worse, too!
It would not be wise to be out today unless you REALLY have to, especially on these crazy hills! Bet we have to cancel Saturday.....

On another, happier note...We just need to pick a date, and take a head count, to go see the Branson Brothers, and I have been assured that we will get a HUGE discount! Their show is opening at The Americana Theatre, February 28th and will be Monday thru Saturday, at 8 PM. I will get the final quote on ticket prices this week. And, we can go anytime. I went to rehearsal w/dh last night and it is gonna be good! They have a Quartet that is the bomb! Think Statlers or Oak Ridge Boys! In fact, Dee Allen is the baritone singer and his Father is the lead singer from the Oaks, Duane Allen. They have a new Bass singer from Nashville, Seth ?. He was with The Stamps Quartet. He's only 18 yrs old and has a shockingly magnificent bass voice! Also added a new cute blonde vocalist, Joy, who does a mean Anne Murray!
Thinkin'.... Maybe a Saturday night show, and we could meet for dinner somewhere?
(Sushi?!? Wasabi's is now open!)

For the clatch..There is a Braum's in Nixa, right on 160. Also heard of a place called Lola's Pastries and Eatery, but have no details and haven't been there.

I hope we get to meet somewhere pretty soon! I'm missing my peeps!!

Stay warm

How about we just continue to plan for dinner on Saturday for those who are comfortable with driving in whatever left over weather there may be. If your aren't comfortable please don't try and drive it.

D: How about March 15th? It's a Saturday and we can just plan around it unless it doesn't work for too many people.

We did Braum's in Ozark last time and it wasn't too impressive although it was great to see the mo peeps. Lola's is right off hiway 13 in Nixa...it's a restaurant that specializes in pastries and sweets. Kaldi's is in Springfield off of Battlefield between Glenstone and Campbell not too far from Logans Steakhouse. It's a proper coffee house with wifi, light breakfast/lunch stuff, and is a few doors down from Cold Stone (for ice cream lovers) and 3 dog bakery (for dog lovers). I'll do some research for other places in the next week or so if we want to do a coffee clatch meet in March so some of the newbies can come join us. Perhaps on something like the 5th or so. That way if we pass muster they may be willing to join in on the show too.

Also, Ye Ol' English Inn in historic Hollister does high tea (for future reference).

Hopefully we'll see ya'll on Saturday night.
Weather here is mostly cold....a little sleet, a little freezing rain, no snow. But it should be gone by tomorrow afternoon or so. It's definitely WAY WAY less than last time around.

Thumbs up Snow, sleet...coffee.

This is it, my friends. This is the worst part of the winter.

What better time to get together...to brave the cold and sleet and gather together for fellowship with the other courageous souls who left the old familiar for a new life, a new world...~choke~...

I'm in.
