Does the Dixie Stamped do something special at that time of the year?
We will have with us a 3 year old, 2 year old and a new born(aprox. 2 months)

Silver Dollar City is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen at Christmas time. The train ride goes into the woods where the nativity story is told by "Grandpa." The entire park is lit up with millions of lights. The shows are all Christmas oriented. I make it a tradition to go back every year as it is truly indescribable. Well worth every penny of the admission price. Just make sure you are there at dusk when the park glows with the magic of Christmas. A hint would be to go during the week as opposed to Saturday or Sunday. Last year I went on the Friday before Christmas and it was fine but they were expecting the largest crowd ever on Saturday. When listening to the news the following day, SDC met that expectation. There is also a new development down on the river (other end of town) that has great restaurants and shopping with a boardwalk feel. I can't recall the name of it but it also has a hotel chain.

That Silver Dollar City Christmas sounds like it would be a great family place to be. Maybe will try to plan a trip to see that and get the daughter who lives in Kansas to bring their kids. They would certainly enjoy that I am sure.

We are going to be doing something other than sitting in this house ... doing nothing!
Heck I can pack up the family take the Christmas tree down and be in Branson in less than 5 hours (giving myself packing time)

Branson at Christmas
It will be crowded and busy that time of year. There are several good Branson Websites that can give you the show schedules. Just search Branson Show Schedules. Also Branson has an official website with links to several other tourist related links.
Silver Dollar city is a great place to take kids (and adults) during the holidays...weather can be COLD or reasonably winter-nice. Definitely not shorts and tee shirts by that time though.
All of the shows are decked out for the holidays. Andy Williams generally has a special holiday show along with others. Or contact the chamber..they can send you all sorts of stuff.
Start checking for hotels/motels. There are tons of tourists here that whole month (most of the Christmas stuff starts about Nov. 5th). All price ranges are available...motel reasonable to hotel expensive (Hilton at the Landing).
Also lots of condo's around here if you want kitchen capability. We've rented a loft style condo at Stonebride (near Silver Dollar City) in the past
and it was great.
PM me if you want more details. Glad to help.

Ho Ho Ho
Don't forget about the lights at Shepherd of the Hills during Christmas. It's a drive thru with animation and lights. That way you don't have to worry about staying warm. And there is also a drivethru light display in Kimberling City.

I think you're referring to the Branson Landing, on Lake Taneycomo. (Which looks suspiciously like a river!)
This whole area is wonderful at Christmas.
Don't miss the lights at Port of Kimberling...they're my favorite!

So when is the best weekend (meaning least busy) around Christmas for Silver Dollar City? Plan on taking my 97 year old grandmother and 4 year old daughter so don't really want to fight huge crowds too

I love Branson at Christmas. ALL the shows have a Christmas special. Silver Dollar is beautiful. You are going to run in to crowds any weekend, but not quite the same as the typical summer time crowds. Atleast that has been my experience.
It will likely be cold. We have had some nasty winters the past few years. However, a lot of times the Branson area is shielded from some of the weather because of the Ozark Mountains. Don't get me wrong, it still gets hold and has some bad weather, but a little less severe winter weather than places like Springfield.
Come on down, but be prepared for anything. The unpredictable weather is something we have grown used to in Missouri. Be prepared for anything from 65 degrees and sunny to icy and -10
