Default Relocating to Monett...Republic?

I'm relocating to the area. I will be working in Monett and have come to the conclusion I will not be living there. I'm thinking Republic is the best option/school system within the distance I am willing to drive. I'd appreciate any additional information/suggestions anyone is able to give. Thanks.

Please be patient fly. I am sure forum readers aren't intentionally ignoring your question - just not too sure how many actually live on this side of Springfield. Do you have any specific question(s)?

I work with people who live in Republic and I would be happy to ask them a question for you.

Driving up and down 60 gets pretty old. I've done it quite a lot. I don't see much wrong with Monett myself, I grew up there. I also have relatives in Republic so I'm very familiar with that area as well. Republic has become mostly a bedroom community for Springfield. I think you'll find more "community" in Monett but I don't know what you're looking for.

We live in Republic. Myself, husband and 2 kids, we had a child at Republic High until last year,so at one point we had a child in Elem., middle and high all at the same time. We moved to the area (Springfield) in 2008 and have lived in Springfield, Rogersville, Williard and then Republic. We stayed about 6 months in each before landing in Republic and staying. We returned to Florida for 6 months due to a temporary job transfer and were sooo happy to get back. We have found the people of Republic to be welcoming and friendly. The schools are fantastic, and the teachers and administration are always kind and informative. We never have to drive far for much of anything. Republic has just about everything we need. The drive down 60 to Monett has never seemed very bad to me, seems like most traffic is headed toward Springfield. Getting to anywhere in Springfield is pretty fast and easy. I hop on 44 for anything on the north side and James River for southside and eastside. Speaking as someone who is not from the area I think I can give you a newcomers view of the area. Just ask any questions and I will be happy to answer as best I can from my opinion.

Thanks for your input. We are currently staying at the housing for families with patients at MO Rehab in Mt Vernon. We are from St Louis but never want to go back. When our son is released, we will have to move and have been considering Republic, among others. Your info helps me narrow down the search. Also, our plans were to move to FL when our son can make the long trip. We really only want to move there to get away from cold winters, and might have to change our minds if here works better for our son. I've been looking on Craigslist for rentals, just to get an idea. Any suggestions where to find a nice rental house? We prefer a community with a pool / clubhouse option.
Thanks in advance!

If you want good schools for you kids, don't walk, RUN from any place that's inside Republic school district. Their school system is infamous even outside of the area. Credits to their name? They recently got much attention when they expelled a 12-year old girl for reporting being raped multiple times at the middle school, and the school even made her write an apology to the boy who raped her. (Republic Schools Respond to Rape Lawsuit; Facebook Protest Emerges) in addition, they've made themselves the laughing stock of the literate world by banning Slaughterhouse Five from the curriculum.

In addition, I can personally confirm, as a former student of the middle school and high school, that it is the worst school system I have ever been in.

I have lived in Republic since 1998. I have my oldest graduated from Republic, my middle child is starting his last year and my youngest is starting jr high.
I have no problem with the schools. They are far better then Springfield schools. Everyone one their opinion and look for different things in a school. Keep an open mind and check the school out for yourself.
