8 days to Ozark!
.....well, not including the 3 days that it will take me to get there.
Next Saterday I will be making my way from the hot, barren desert of Arizona to the beautiful green oasis of Missouri. I will be packing my SUV with 3 crazy cats and a talking parrot, (along with my mother to help me keep control of the animals!)
My husband won't be far behind driving the truck with his brother and all of our belonings that we have aquired during my 27 years of living in AZ. Thanks to all of you who have answered my numerous questions over the last few months. I'm looking forward to living in your beautiful state!

I'm not far behind!!
Jessicas3, well, we're not far behind you girl!! We too will be leaving Arizona for Missouri in the Spring! We're in Tucson....
Have a safe trip, take it easy, and don't let the cats get the bird!! Please keep in contact with us and let us know how the trip went and how you're getting settled and all....
Prayers for a safe and event "free" road trip!! Just remember to look back and take a "mental snapshot" of the beauty of this desert....beauty is in every state! I too am looking forward to being able to use the terms "lush and green" in my new MO vocabulary!!
Godspeed!

Welcome to Mo
Good luck Jessica - Been there, done that! Moved from southern CA to SW MO. Remember to check in if you can and let us know how your traveling is going. By the time you get here, our weather will have cooled down a bit. It will make it a little easier on the unpacking. Enjoy your first fall this year.
Safe travels .....

Whoohoo! I'm so excited for you, Jessica! You're about to embark on an amazing adventure!
We took a trip with our parakeet once. We went from CA to WA and back...and he had a blast! We'd let him out of his cage while we were riding around (with our windows up, of course!) and he must have felt like he was flying because he was so excited! He'd hang out on the bill of Daddy's hat or even sometimes on the steering wheel but usually on the top of our headrests. We'd just close him back in his cage when we had to get in and out of the car or at hotels. What a great memory that is!
He's no longer with us. If there is a bird heaven, he's flyin' fast and free in a way he never got to here on this earth!
Please forgive me but I can't remember where you're moving to. Wouldja refresh my memory?
Well, I hope you have a great trip! Drive carefully! Maybe we'll see you at one of our future OTFCC gatherings!

Enjoy your trip while you can
Jessicas3,
It's only been 3 months since Hubby, myself and our doggie Maggi made the trek from CA to MO. The trip started on June 6th and we arrived on the 8th. Since I'd never made the drive before, it was an exciting experience for me. We tried to take as many detours down Old Route 66 as we could, and that was fun. Especially in Seligman, AZ. Lots to see there. But, you've prolly 'been there, done that', huh?
Before we headed out, I posted a thread in the Travel forum asking for suggestions of 'must haves' before leaving on the trip. The kind folks shared alot of tips that I found invaluable!!! Ya might wanna check it out to see if there are any tips that might be helpful in your situation. The thread is called 'Road Trip Check List' There are others threads in the forum as well that could provide additional info for ya.
Here's hopin' your trip is very enjoyable and that everything goes smoothly. Luckily, the weather should be nice during your trip. Just try to stop & smell the roses on the way....it's surprising what's out there if you just look for it. You are going to be getting here just in time for the Fall, which I here is absolutely stunning!!! Please take care of yourself, and like G4inMO says...check in with us when you can so we know you made it ok, and you can tell us about your adventure across America.
This is an exciting time for you, and once you're here....you'll never want to leave. I know I sure don't. Welcome neighbor.....welcome home.
Take Care & Be Careful,
Boof

I'm finally here! Well, I have been for about 3 weeks now! Sorry I wasn't able to post any updates from the road. Things have been crazy...
Anyway, the ride was good. All of the animals survived. It was a little difficult sneaking 4 cages (1 for each cat, and 1 for the parrot), into hotel rooms. The second night I was SURE we were going to get kicked out for all of the meowing! But we made it through. The bird did the best of all. He sat in the middle of the backseat, looking out the windshield, and joining in on most of our conversations. He was happy the whole way!
Everything has been great here in Ozark! We are totally settled in and having a blast. Neither of us have been working so its seems like its been one long vacation. I start school on Monday the 22nd, so it will be back to the old grind. Thank you to everyone for your messages, well wishes, and words of advice! We are very happy to be here!

Lamberts
Jess,
Be certain to go eat at Lambert's. I promise you won't be sorry. Provide us a review so we will all know your assessment of this fine eating establishment. We love it. CAUTION: You will definitely gain weight there!
