Traffic?
Just wondering how the traffic in and around town is?
Are there a lot of congested areas to deal with? or is driving in and out of town realitively painless?

Compared to larger cities, painless. Some backed up traffic at the 5pm rush, but no biggy unless there's a wreck of course. And Springfield is not all that big geographically either, and has lots of side streets. IMO, it's worse coming into or out of town than in town itself.

I think that traffic in Springfield is pretty okay. I live 5 miles away from work, and sometimes it takes 15 minutes, and sometimes 30, more often 30. the bib streets, Glenstone, Battlefield, Sunshine, National(MSU clogs that up pretty good ),Kansas Expwy, all of those are bad starting at around 4:00 til around 6:00. good luck to ya!

Traffic???? Hardly that bad. The only time I have seen real traffic, unfortunately is when there is an accident or road work. Like lovin it here said, it's okay.

Springfield traffic isnt that bad at all. I agree with G4, the only time there is bad traffic is with accidents/construction. Especially if you are from a big city or used to that kind of traffic, Springfield is nothing in comparison.
Branson on the other hand is a nightmare in the summer with all the tourists, but during the off-season is actually not bad at all.

It all depends on how much traffic you are used to. Traffic is worse in New Orleans (even after Katrina, with half our population gone) than it is in Springfield.
On the other hand, as people here have pointed out, there are times and places where there is some traffic in Springfield.

Half the New Orleans population ended up in Baton Rouge.
NOW that is traffic. Interstates are a parking lot at rush hours and busy the rest of the time. No good alternate routes. One more reason we bought a home in Springfield.
Lucky that we are both now retired and can choise time to be on the roads.
It is a little difficut have two houses right now so we are ready to sell the BR place.
As soon as the weather looks good for about a week, we will be amking another trip to Springfield.
