What's the teacher market like in Springfield? I'm thinking of coming from California for a change...

I think I heard about $24,000 but they were working on raising that.
We just moved from CA in July and my kids love the schools in OZARK. The teachers seem so happy. the cost of living is allot cheaper and helps off set pay cuts. I ran my a/c on my 2,400 sq ft home in Aug at about 75' and the electric bill was only about $190! My property tax is only $700! Water was real cheap too and don't have to water as much. We LOVE it here! Blessings, April www.myspace.com/aprilsruss |

Don't be shocked by the pay scale--it is normal for MO. I personally recommend trying for any of the districts just outside Springfield (most of them pay better and many other reasons). For job search, go to Missouri Teaching Jobs - Where Missouri School Teachers & Administrators Find Jobs - MOREAP. And I second that Ozark district is wonderful; have a great friend that teaches there and did some of my training there, too. PM me if you want more info!
