Good Churches
Hello~
My husband and I just recently moved to the Ozark area. We were wondering if anyone could suggest a good bible based non denominational or baptist church near Ozark or south Springfield. Thanks for your help!

Jessica,
River Bluff Fellowship is a Baptist church you should check out. It is located on Evans Road, about half a mile west of Hwy 65. Just take the Evans Rd exit (the southern most Spfld exit), go over the highway, follow the road around the large curve and you'll see the church on your right just past a new subdivision. River Bluff is affiliated with First Baptist Church of Springfield. They have a very dynamic pastor, Scott Watson, and his sermons are always very good. If I were fortunate enough to live in the Springfield area, this is were I would go to church.

We really like James River in Ozark!
Our teenage girls also love the "Real Life Student Center!"
The Jr and SR high have their own cafes and meeting area.
My girls are each going on their own mini retreat this month and were able to receive a partial scholarship for it.
They are so happy there plus they get together in the middle of the week for Praise, Worship and Study.
They also each go to their own small group bible study. (several to choose from, locations and days of the week) Realife Online
They have a huge children's area which they are expanding again, bible book store, Starbucks Cafe
It's big but they really have a way of showing you're welcome there.
Very Biblical, has a Fitness Center with classes The River: Home
, provide several bible/recovery classes and home life groups also. Lots of Resources and caring people.

Hi, Jessica!
Good to hear from you again! I see you wrote this a few weeks ago but I didn't see this thread before tonight. I've been pretty busy with company in town. Anyway, I haven't found much in the way of non-denominational churches but there are several good ones in the area.
I believe in trying to find a home church as close to home as possible because it is so hard to get to other services and events if you go to a church very far away. You didn't happen to mention what size church you are hoping for but since you did mention that you would also be interested in Baptist, I would like to recommend Life Point. It is in the shopping center behind the QT gas station and just behind the Stained Glass Theater. They are Southern Baptist and have a great worship team and wonderful teaching, too! They have a free coffee and snacks bar in the foyer and lots of family and children's activities.
If you're interested in learning more, here's their website: Home + LifePoint Online, Ozark, MO
I met a woman who attends another Baptist church and it's right on the square. She just loves it but we haven't visited. It's called First Free Will Baptist Church. They don't have a website but they're at 201 E. Church Street. Their phone number is 581-5246 if you want to know service times or other information.
I hope this helps! It can be difficult to find a new home church but I encourage you to keep going and you will! If God moved you here, then He has a church for you, as well!
Blessings!
MrsG

Wow, babyface! I am so happy you found a church home so quickly! And to think you already know so much about it! Don'tcha just love it when that happens?!
I have heard wonderful things about it and have met many nice people from there, too! We have attended large churches before and found that we are much happier in a smaller congregation so we didn't even visit there in our search for a home church.
I'm really happy to know you found and love it! Isn't God good?

Yes MrsG, the move here has totally been a God thing!
Even though we are struggling financially, we know God is in charge and we have seen Him orchastrate this whole ordeal.
I researched local churches online the best I could but JRA seemed to have the best youth programs so I wanted to try them first. We didn't like how big it was at first but decided if the girls were happy, that's all that mattered. I am just glad we like it as much as they do!
Blessings,
April

I would encourage you to try South Gate Baptist Church. They just finished a brand new building for the youth, with excellent facilities and programs. The adult Sunday School groups and worship services are excellent as well. Services are held at 9:00 am and 10:30 am Sunday mornings. They also have services Sunday and Wednesday evenings.

Welcome, Mrzman! Thanks to you and Snake for your suggestions! I checked out Jessica's posts and it seems she hasn't posted since the day she requested this info. I hope she finds her way back here but even if she doesn't, I believe there are others who will come across this thread and they'll be glad to have these tips we've all given.
It's exciting and encouraging to know that there is such an excitement for our churches here in this area! Ain't God good???!!!
I just have to add a note to Jessica, if she returns...We look forward to hearing from you again and learning where you finally chose to go to church, as well as hearing how your transition is coming along.
Blessings!
MrsG
P.S. I hope we also get to hear more from you, zman!
