I am sorry about this rant but I am very frustrated.

We have lived in Springfield for two years and are currently living in an apartment complex on the north side of town. We are wanting to find a house or duplex to rent. We want a yard so that our daughter and dog can run in. We are wanting to move to Republic, Nixa or Ozark (better schools). We keep running into problems though because everyone we talk to won't rent to dogs over 35lbs.

It is frustrating that a town that is so dog friendly has landlords that discriminate against big dogs. My dog is 9yrs old, neutered, and obedience trained. He has never destroyed anything but yet no one will accept him. I have friends and family that have smaller dogs and they bark non stop and constantly scratch at the door. Why do people think that big dogs are more destructive than little dogs. That is complete bs!!

We don't want to buy right now because we are not sure where my husbands career might take him after he graduates from college.

Does anyone know of any rental company that accepts big dogs? I am willing to pay deposits.

I am at the end of my rope! I want out of the apartment complex.

Stephanie

Still in Spfd, but I live in the SW side of town, and most of the duplexes down here will accept large dogs. I have seen more large breeds (boxers, pits, shepherds, etc) than I can count. I'm sure they require deposits, but I'm sure you can find something down this way. Most of them don't seem to advertise any other way than signs in the yards, so you might have to drive down here to see them.

Thanks Pam. My husband actually found one or two since I posted this. We found several in Ozark and a few in Rogersville. We are probably going with the one in Ozark if we can get out of our lease.

We were able to find one with a fenced in yard and we hear that Ozark has excellent schools for our daughter.

Thanks for responding,
Stephanie
