Wow, I didn't realize these forums existed. Awesome! I live in the SW corner of SPF and absolutely love this area. We rented in the area around Battlefield mall for a year before buying here. And ITA on Rogersville, Nixa and Ozark. Actually the NE area of Ozark is about a 10 minute drive to all the goodies on S. Glenstone - beautiful, country feel with all the convenience of the city. Would love to find a house there myself!

Welcome to the forum, Minkie! So, how long have you been in this area and where did you move from? Would you like to come to one of our OTFCC gatherings? The next one is coming up on the 23rd...a dinner down in Branson. In March, if we do what we usually do, we'll meet up Springfield way again. Even if you can't make it or want to wait till the next one, I hope you'll consider joining us when you can!

MrsG...who moved here with MrG from CA in 2006.

[quote=nanjosbrand;2864529]This has been such an interesting thread to read because for the past four years, my husband and I have been contemplating moving to the Table Rock Lake area. We are lake lovers and have all the water toys. We have stayed in Branson/Kimberling City several times, but still have some questions that need to be answered. I am 29 y.o and my husband is almost 36. We have a three year old son and two year old daughter.
With our ages in mind, how do you meet more familes in the Table Rock Lake area? It seems as though when we've been to Branson, we only see people who are 60+. Hey, I love my parents generation, but I would like to hang out with people my own age too.
quote]

Yeah me too about the age thing. It is nice to meet some friends that have children similar in age. From what I have read the median age in the SW Missouri area is younger than where I currently live, (I think the median was 34). I hope no one takes that the wrong way, I like people of all ages.
I love South Dakota, (I see you are there now). I was born in Aberdeen and my whole family is from there. We were going to move there until we visited this summer and were'nt too happy to see the poor water quality and a few other things. The people there are so friendly though, it was like another world.
I think Missouri has everything we are looking for, can't wait! Now if this darn snow would melt and I could get my house sold.

It would be nice to have this snow melt!! I think people flock to MO cause they get a little snow and it melts pretty quickly. In SoDak it sticks around for months. It's fun in November and December, but then when it really starts coming in January and February, I am sick of it. This winter has been really harsh.
I hope you really enjoy MO--maybe we'll be down there soon someday. We just have to figure out what we want to do with our lives and decide what's really important.

I just had to pop in and say that you've got your priorities straight, Nan! No place is perfect for everyone...and there are so many things to be taken into consideration before making such a radical life change! As happy as so many of us are here...even those who are clearly ambassadors for MO......I'm sure all of them would say they agree with that.

I met a woman a few days ago who had been here for 3 years from CA and wished she could move back! Imagine that! My advice would be for you to be as sure as you can be that this is the right time and the right move for YOU...but I don't need to give it because you already know it!

By the way...welcome to the forum!

MrsG

Thanks for the welcome to the forum. Hope you don't mind my nosiness...I am doing a lot of research on the Branson area and like I've said before, I have done so for quite some time. I think being in Kimberling City would be nice to be close to the lake, yet away from so many tourists.
We have four properties in South Dakota to sell before we would make a move. That and family are the two things holding us back right now. The good thing about SW MO verses any other destination we've contemplated to live, is that it's only a 9 hour drive away from family. So...if anyone's moving to South Dakota, I could hook you up with a house!

Hi and Welcome! I am in Kimberling and we love it! Altho the median age is around 50, you can find alot of families with children, as well. And, the older population is pretty "hip" and fit! If you need more info, just ask! We can help and enjoy doing so!!

And Welcome again from Mrschilcook. MrC and I also moved here from Las Vegas NV, but are originally from the SF Bay Area (Pleasanton). Come have coffee with us in March. We are currently scheduled to see a show, but I think we may need to schedule a coffee outing for the folks that have discovered our forums...

Welcome to the forums, Minkie. We are always happy to have new members join in the group. Hope to see you around often, and hopefully we'll see you at one of the OTFCC gatherings. We always have such a good time. Look around, join in when you can, and make yourself comfortable. We're a friendly gang around here.

Nanjo,

Glad to see you here. You'll find a ton of information and kind folks. If you need any guidance, you can find the 'Search' feature on the upper right corner of the page. If that doesn't help, feel free to ask away....it's what we're here for.

Hopefully your property will sell soon, and you'll be on your way!!! We'll keep our fingers crossed for ya.

Happy you're both here,
Boof

Thanks for the welcome! We moved here in '99 from Farmington. We lived in Farmington from '96-'99, but I was born in Camdenton (Lake of the Ozarks) and lived there most of my life. My husband grew up in Independence. We just love it here!
