ok, seriously - as 8 SNAKE mentioned, there is indeed a diff between the deer above and below I-70 and/or the MO River [generally speaking of course]. I have only hunted south, and the average field dressed buck is in range of 100 - 200 lbs, whereas north I've heard that they average 150 - 250 lbs. Antlers are normally larger, etc. up north too. Diet of course is biggest difference; when opening the guts, most have acorns, milo, shrooms, sometimes corn, and the such - whereas much more corn and soybeans up north. However, I love the hunt in the Ozarks - the ridges, cedars, hollers, changing winds, small neat openings, little cricks... As to the taste, biggest issue IMHO is not just the location of the deer itself, but in (1) the processing, (2) the storage/freshness, and (3) how its prepared. Me, I love summer sausage, burger, and fried steaks.

Best of luck to you

Lots of friends that deer hunt in this area. Loads of deer. They range in size. Meat is good have eaten it for last seven years from locals.

Alot of areas with forest land you could purchase and hunt on.
