OOOWWWW, I have a much better idea. Hire L.J. and Jammer as security.

You win! Our little girl likes to eat, sleep on her diva bed and have her tummy petted. At nearly 15 years old, she likes to attack the Snausages and T-Bonz "cookies" we give her after she finishes her regular dog food. She's never really been a yapper, but will bark when she wants our attention.
Cali BassMan would make fine security too!

BassMan can certainly have the honors - just as soon as he relocates to the area he be guarding. Hey, let's not forget Deputy Darlynn either.
Sugar Britches, it's a Southern (deep South) thang!
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! We all have so much to be thankful for BUT if you belong to the elite club of CDers, it can't get better than that.

Could I ask you to pass me the Bactine and a band-aid, LJ? FWIW, Richmond, CA just made it onto the top 10 "Most Dangerous Cities" in the United States--and it has under 100,000 residents. No, not the United States! Richmond! The U.S. has about 300 million people. Just bein' silly here!
CaliBassMan, everyone in southwest MO is going to be totally "Come on in, the water's fine!" when you get ready to move back there! I haven't ever been to Stockton Lake, but have heard it's generally great for fishing. Hope you continue to enjoy your Thanksgiving weekend!

Hey, well finally Richmond made the top 10 of something...
I abandoned ship there in the mid 80's, and moved to Solano County, but alas, the thugs seem to be following me....Neighbor has had his car broken into and then the back window shot out, all this week... He's a biker and must have pissed off someone....

Am I living in the wrong part of the country or what? Gosh, it feels--I don't know--Northern around here, or maybe just more Bay Area wine snob snooty. And I enjoy a good glass of wine from time to time. Whatever you call it, I much prefer Southern thangs! Sugar Britches, Sweet Cheeks, Darlin', Honey--they're all good.
Some day, Sassy, we'll have to join the fun bunch at one of the Over the Fence Coffee Club gatherings, wingdings, get-togethers and what-not. And if CaliBassMan can join us (or if we can join him as the case may be), that'd be even better still!

Amen and amen to that! Elite but it sure isn't cliquish.
Well to get fully back on-topic, I wonder if SW Missouri has ever had a case of a car getting shot at just for the heck of it. This just happened a mile or so west of the Windsor, CA city limits early Wednesday morning. And....there were two homeless people sleeping in the car at the time. Did the shooters know this? We don't really know yet. They were parked on a rural two-lane road in the same location for the previous three weeks or so. But the car's occupants wound up getting shot with dozens of small-caliber shotgun pellets, and thankfully survived.

Dreamers or Realist
Ladies lets not be dreamers, be realists. We still need to lock cars and use caution when alone whether it be day or night... We don't let our children ride bikes without supervision this isn't a perfect world.
I've lived in Ozarks almost sixty years and know that is a dream to think we can live that way.
There are crazies out there everywhere look at your township boards, crime is not rampant, but soundness of mind is necessary.
We're a family of Ozarkians for hundreds of years and we know better than to dream that way. Keep your family and yourself safe.
Enjoy the Ozarks...

I know what you mean, Skeating. Good, sound advice.
My father's family has been in Missouri for that length of time as well and I have witnessed the changes you refer to. However, as bad as some things seem, it is still a whole lot better in Missouri than a lot of other places.
We have had to adjust our routines to deal with the depravity of today's world, but that does not stop us from safely enjoying all that Missouri has to offer. I am not relocating my family there with blinders on but from where we are coming from, Missouri is just a little piece of Heaven to us.
