I'm doing some research for the Naval Undersea Museum and have an item donated by a family that lived in Baxter, Mo. The note said it was in southwest Missouri. I grew up in northeast Oklahoma and the only Baxter I remember is Baxter Springs, Ks. There is no Baxter in the Missouri section of City-Data but I looked on Mapquest and found TWO Baxters - one in New Madrid county and one in Stone county. I assume it's the latter, since it's at Table Rock Lake.

Not much...
Baxter is more of a (retirement/vacation) "community" on TRL. Not much there but a few resorts and marinas. Not yet "developed" like other parts of the lake, but, it's coming soon!
Haven't been down there in a few months, but I saw that a couple of the older resorts were remodeling and fixing up.
From Kimberling City, it is about 5 miles south of the bridge to H Hwy, (at Lampe) turn right and follow the road to Baxter. You won't get lost....H Hwy dead ends into the lake. It is very pretty there!
