Tambre, don't forget that Lebanon (pronounced "leb-in-in") that's just the next county to the north for possible employment.
Hi MoNative,

Thanks for the pronunciation clarification. Heard there's a good club in Lebanon, called Django Reinhart....pronounced Jango, What is with these pronunciations anywho? If anyone has ever been there and would like to discuss, please do.

Thanks...I really get you.

No offense. Could be I read something into it that wasn't intended. I am very new at this kind of communication. Forgive me if I offended you, Junkie!

Default :)

Hey...no bad.

I got my heart broken by some of the...er...rigidity...of the "natives" in the area where we first moved to MO and have seen other stalwart pioneers from the left coast lose heart because of the limited acceptance they've received in their new homes. I was told by a from-there-local that I would "never be accepted...your children will never be accepted". I stand by my ideas that some small towns that have not seen much influx of newcomers have a harder time appreciating the courage...the heart...it takes to pull up roots and strike out into the wild unknown.

But.
I would NEVER discourage anyone from moving here...I just think it's only fair to mention that so folks are prepared.

I absolutely take back any and all discouraging words!

It's all good here.

Hey Lake Junkie,

Thanks for the truth-in-advertising, so to speak. I expect we will be treated like "strangers in a strange land", but hope that common interests will help bridge the gap. You did not discourage me, but did bring up some of the underlying feelings that I have. I try to treat people fairly and understand them for their unique experience, and hope it is reciprocated. For some people, it is way out of their comfort zone to try to relate to people that are not of a similar background/experience. I appreciate your honesty.

It's a bad habit...saying what you think.

Sometimes.

I had a teacher in 6th grade used to say your "tongue ain't a diving board for your brain"...like things just jump out of your brain onto your tongue and out your mouth...

Tambre, If you like gardening and hippe kind-of-stuff, you will have to check out bakersville garden festivals north of mansfield. The big one is in the spring but they have them all summer and fall. We try to go a few times a year (lots of great music).
