Actually, Walt Disney was born in Chicago, Illinois. His family moved to Missouri later.

I do know that Disney has purchased a bunch of land at the MO/ Ark border by Jane, MO. As far as their intentions, that is left up to our imaginations. My Hubby helped broker the deal, that is the only reason I know.

That's interesting. I didn't know they actually owned land! Even if they're not actively planning something, they must have an idea of maybe doing so someday!

I had heard that they bought the land years ago, before Disney went into their financial woes.
I had thought it was in Barry County...good info.

friend at Disney
I understand Disney looked at the area around 10 years ago and decided to pass at that time because Branson was so seasonal, and shut down about 1/4 of the year. Things might be re-evaluated if Branson becomes a year round destination. ( info from a guy that does sound and lights for the Disney theme parks worldwide).

Property in AR/MO
I was in Mountain Home AR-just 40 min by car from Lead Hill and Diamon City where Disney and another wealthy Real Estate Magnet purchased 4-5,000 acres on the east side of Bull Shoals near the2 cities mentioned above. This would put them 40 min out of Branson-and since the new airport is going in at Branson it would give Disney the option to open a year-round park on a beautiful lake. The area supposedly was given the green light by the local Gov to be WET vs Dry. Some individuals are already buying up property on both sides of the lake-so you tell me??
I'd buy now if I were you-I did!

Disney has purchased land in other areas before, held on to it, and sold it later after the value had appreciated. Land in McDonald County (near Jane, and NW Arkansas) and also in the Branson area is certainly appreciating. Maybe they just wanted to make some money by reselling the land at a much higher rate in a few years? I certainly don't expect Mickey Mouse to be moving in.

I have a family member that works in the executive suite at Disney and when asked about this topic the answer was "not likely"... I took that to mean that it's just another rumor.

Something new to mix it up. A friend heard from a contractor yesterday that Disney has bought some land in Highlandville, MO which is about 5 minutes south of Nixa.
Basically right smack in the middle of all the towns that are set to one day be suburbs of Springfield.
Who knows..........
