Hmmmm......cookies!
I make chocolate chip cookies with some extra ingredients like ground flax, oat and brown rice flour, oat bran, instant oats and 1/3 the chocolate chips (mini chips). My family eats them up as fast as I can make them, but hubby usually won't eat them unless they are fresh off the baking stone.

I use allot of the the good oils for inflammation and helping my hubby with his cholesterol. I put them in a protein shake along with rice milk, bee pollen, Stevia, some yucky green powder, flax and almonds to make it nutty. I usually have this for lunch since I am supposed to stay away from the average lunch meat and it ends up being more cost effective for me.

Thanks for the tip on Braums, babyface! I've been wondering about that....organic milk in the regular stores is so much more expensive here than it was in AZ. I will definitely have to check them out!

Default Organic pest control

Anyone have a great trick to keep spiders out of the house this spring without using pestisides? My hubby will spray pesticides outside (which will chase them inside).

Babyface~

Try clove oil and eucalyptus for spiders and fleas... Peppermint, cinnamon or vinegar for ants...Boric acid for roaches.

Cheaper and safer for people and critters!
So enviornmentally correct, too!

Hey,

You all are the hedge apple capital of the world down there. Nothing works better to keep spiders out of the house better than hedgeapples. Toss them in the crawl space, back porch, any where you're having spider problems and they keep them away for months.

I live in Central Illinois & shop at ALDI, what I can not get there I get at Super Walmart. Walmart has gone up on their prices in the last few weeks .15 to .50 on everything I usually buy. I am a price watcher/coupon user & I buy generic whenever possible. ALDI prices... Milk (1gal. 2%) 2.38, Imperial 1lb stick margarine .79, Smart Balance 2.29, bread .89, lettuce in a bag .99. Walmart prices... 1 1/2doz eggs 2.93. Ground beef & poultry prices about the same as you.

The money.com website has an article about food going up an avg. of 36% in the past 12 months. Some things less, some things, more, but in general the cost of food has skyrocketed. But the price of fuel was bound to drive the prices up...everything we buy is moved by train, truck, ship, or plane...all using fuel from the beginning to the end.
Personally, I think the Fed's need to update their "basket of goods" to actually reflect the cost of living increases. Somehow that basket seems to under estimate what people are spending...and I don't buy processed food at all so it's not like I'm spending my $$ on junk.
