I understand, G4! It's a matter of necessity, I think.
I'm so glad to know that you're alright, onjicamnden! My heart goes out to all of the people affected by the storms and find myself grateful for the simplest of things, today.
I think it was the people in Gassville (proper spelling, at last!) who said that they had plenty of warning and that helped there to be less loss of life. I understand there are sirens in towns all over the south (and beyond, I assume) that are immeasurably helpful for those who can hear them. Alas, that is one drawback from living out in the country. We've never heard one of them go off although we know they have gone off in nearby towns.
My pet peeve is not knowing where to go if you DO hear them. We have one of those emergency radio/tv things that has a battery backup and it is helpful...even if it is obnoxious.

I'm going to call the local Red Cross and see what I can find out about how to find where shelters are and if they're open. I'm sure I'm not alone in this need and maybe I can help do some good by pursuing answers for myself. Who knows? Maybe I will alert them to a need they are not aware exists and maybe I'll even write an article about it.
I don't think any of us had a clue of just how strong that stormy weather was last night. I remember thinking the worst was over and then was surprised to learn that GA was in danger. I thought it must have been a different squall line...I don't know...but I was shocked to learn today that there were so many tornadoes that touched down in so many places!

Then, this morning, I was feeling bad, wishing I had prayed more or something. Finally, I realized that it could have been worse if so many people
hadn't been praying. When I shared that thought with one of my sisters, she told me of the students who had huddled together at the college in TN while the roof was ripped off their dormitory (taking who knows what else with it).

Not one of those students was hurt and my sister told me that one of the students said that they attributed that to prayer.

Sounds good to me!
My sister had called almost in tears this morning, broken hearted for all the people who had lost so much so quickly. They're going to need our prayers
and our help for awhile. Some lost family and/or friends, some lost pets and livestock, some lost clothing and belongings, some lost homes, some lost automobiles, some lost businesses, some lost jobs...and the majority of them lost more than one of these.
Another prayer need is for the organizations who are already offering help and others who will be joining them. These groups will need a lot of prayer and donations to get the job done, as well. I know that everyone here in the forum doesn't pray and I can only hope you aren't too offended at those of us who talk about it.

After all, who is to say our prayers
aren't reaching God?

I
It's times like these that I'm so grateful to be a part of such a wonderful forum and knowing people like all of you! God bless you, one and all!
