Bless your hearts! Hopefully, it'll just play out before it gets there!

I'm not real sure about the location, but this morning, the news was talking about somewhere in the NE got slammed pretty hard. At least that's the map they had up when he was talking about it. I came in right at the end of the story. They said the Eastern Seaboard was in for some bad action. I sure do hope everyone is ok. It's terrible about Gasville!!! I can't imagine the devistation.

God keep everyone safe!!!

Saddened,
Boof

It sure has been a crazy weather seasnon so far this year. My heart goes out the to people in Arkansas. The tornado that hit my town of Strafford was closer that I would ever want it again. I was fortunate, but other obviouisly were not. I have to say, I do enjoy the changing weather that we have compared to California, but don't like the desctruction the severe can cause. I joke now by saying since I have move here, I have become a weather junkie.

G4, you seem to one of a growing club. hehehehe I have a friend that keeps the Weather Channel on all the time, and keeps on top of things. Although, I must admit, I don't stay as informed as I probably should. I'm doing better tho. Thank GOD we have people like MrsG to watch out for us.

ALWAYS nice to see you around, G4!!!

Boof

Aww, thank you, your very kind We made it through ourselves..whew, however some folks around us were not so lucky Areas around Huntsville, Al. got tore up pretty bad, and several tornadoes supposedly touched down in Chattanooga which is just about 20 mi. north of us. We were under a severe tornado warning at 6:00 am this morning and the weather got pretty scary! I just had the kids up and ready to get into the kitchen pantry if the need arose. Thankfully it looks as if the storm is breaking up now.

Looks like the tail ends of the storm are going to knock on our door, I just pray that it doesnt get stirred up with the abnormally warm weather we are having.
My thought and prayers are with all those who were affected.

Default Tornado in Arkansas

The worst of the tornados that hit in Arkansas hit in Atkins (yes, home of the famous pickles) It hit downtown, killed 7 at last count. It's a small town between Russellville and Conway off of I-40 going toward Little Rock. I tried to get a map on here but can't make it work for some reason. Our prayers are with all the families there.

I understand, G4! It's a matter of necessity, I think.

I'm so glad to know that you're alright, onjicamnden! My heart goes out to all of the people affected by the storms and find myself grateful for the simplest of things, today.

I think it was the people in Gassville (proper spelling, at last!) who said that they had plenty of warning and that helped there to be less loss of life. I understand there are sirens in towns all over the south (and beyond, I assume) that are immeasurably helpful for those who can hear them. Alas, that is one drawback from living out in the country. We've never heard one of them go off although we know they have gone off in nearby towns.

My pet peeve is not knowing where to go if you DO hear them. We have one of those emergency radio/tv things that has a battery backup and it is helpful...even if it is obnoxious. I'm going to call the local Red Cross and see what I can find out about how to find where shelters are and if they're open. I'm sure I'm not alone in this need and maybe I can help do some good by pursuing answers for myself. Who knows? Maybe I will alert them to a need they are not aware exists and maybe I'll even write an article about it.

I don't think any of us had a clue of just how strong that stormy weather was last night. I remember thinking the worst was over and then was surprised to learn that GA was in danger. I thought it must have been a different squall line...I don't know...but I was shocked to learn today that there were so many tornadoes that touched down in so many places!

Then, this morning, I was feeling bad, wishing I had prayed more or something. Finally, I realized that it could have been worse if so many people hadn't been praying. When I shared that thought with one of my sisters, she told me of the students who had huddled together at the college in TN while the roof was ripped off their dormitory (taking who knows what else with it). Not one of those students was hurt and my sister told me that one of the students said that they attributed that to prayer. Sounds good to me!

My sister had called almost in tears this morning, broken hearted for all the people who had lost so much so quickly. They're going to need our prayers and our help for awhile. Some lost family and/or friends, some lost pets and livestock, some lost clothing and belongings, some lost homes, some lost automobiles, some lost businesses, some lost jobs...and the majority of them lost more than one of these.

Another prayer need is for the organizations who are already offering help and others who will be joining them. These groups will need a lot of prayer and donations to get the job done, as well. I know that everyone here in the forum doesn't pray and I can only hope you aren't too offended at those of us who talk about it. After all, who is to say our prayers aren't reaching God? I

It's times like these that I'm so grateful to be a part of such a wonderful forum and knowing people like all of you! God bless you, one and all!
