Default Another "Many Questions" thread

Hi all, glad to meetcha

My wife and I are considering moving to Springfield. We live in Sullivan, and I work in St. Louis. We can't stay where we are because the gas is killing us. (I've got a 150 mile round trip). My daughter just got accepted at Drury in the Architectural program The writing seems to be on the wall. We're comming. So, I've got a few questions, if some of you locals wouldn't mind.

Is it possible to find a little land (5 or 10 acres) with a home within 25 or 30 miles of Springfield without breaking the bank? I'm thinking 80 to 100k?

I know this is a long shot question, but here goes. I'm an electrical designer here in St. Louis. I know there are at least 2 or 3 Engineering firms in Springfield. (This limits me in work options, but 2 or 3 is a lot better than many small towns). Does anyone know anything about those companies?

If there is an engineer on the forum who could just offer me a job right of the bat, that would be great "Ya sure, your hired, just check in when you get here".

Sigh...If only life were so simple.

As far as your real estate question, you can sometimes find properties about that price range but they're going to need work. If you can figure out which direction from Springfield you'd like to be (it's a big area) that will help you.

I don't know if we have any engineers on here regularly...at least that speak up...

As for your last thought, if you don't dream it, you surely won't get it...

...oh, and Drury rocks. Good for your daughter!

You can easily find that much land for that price, but not with a house on it.

Since you know there are firms already established in this area, my bet would be too search them through the web and then call to see if they were hiring.

What is your specialty?

I'm an electrical designer.

Hey, I saw that you like to build fast cars! I knda lean that way too. I like to build stuff, and plan to build up a Toyota or other small truck for off road. I'm gonna lift it and fab a rollbar

But I've got to wait until I make the move. I've just got too much to do with selling the house and all.
