I used to drive from Ozark to Springfield every day for work last year. I only had to stop at the train a few times. It really wasn't that much of a burden. Traffic would back up for a good distance, but it all cleared out really quick in a minute or two. I don't remember the train ever being a big issue. I don't think those tracks are traveled super frequently.

I agree. I take James River to 65 every morning and very, very rarely get delayed by a train.

Hi Melissajo and 8 Snake,

It's good to hear that stopping for the train is just a minor occurrence. I guess there isn't any kind of schedule for freight trains, in case you wanted to avoid one? So US 60 is called the James River Expressway?..sounds so peaceful, ahhh.

I would hardly call it "peaceful" though.

I forgot to mention, I am a teacher. I would be crossing those tracks about 7am and again around 3:30 or 4 pm.

Thanks Melissajo,

What grade(s) do you teach, or what subject? I am a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, in a public elementary school (grades K-5). I heard that someone has to retire for OT jobs in the Springfield school district to open up (and they all be young'ins, lol) How long have you been teaching? What is the student/teacher ratio like?

So, back to the traffic on the James River Expressway,....how far away from Springfield does the traffic start to thin out? At least it is a good direction to drive in...west in the morning, east in the evening, to help cut down on sun glare.

As for my drive to work...it takes me 7 minutes.
I drive up Hwy 165 from the State Park Marina past the Jakes Creek Arm of Table Rock Lake and then over the top of Baird Mountain...by where that breathtaking rock wall is...past the Scenic View overlooking Lake Taneycomo & Branson (the one where the ice cream stand is) and about 5 more miles of beautiful winding rolling Ozark Mountain Scenery...(are you jealous yet? ) to a left at the old Crockey's restaurant and into my parking lot.

Love ya.
And you're always kinda enough to honk "Good Morning".

I didn't. The people my age (some 20 odd years ago) seemed skeevy.
