Just a warning about the shows...not all of them are what I would call kid friendly...one in particular I found offensive. I guess it's a personal taste issue. I don't like sexual innuendo and especially didn't want my young boys exposed to things they didn't need to know about yet when they were young. Now that they are teens, I wouldn't want them to go because they would understand! Plus, of course I think that kind of thing is degrading to both men & women.
The shows at Silver Dollar City are great tho. Hope you have a great time in Branson!

I've never seen anything in Branson that I thought resembled sexual innuendo...do you mind telling us which show was offensive?
The only comment slightly negative I've ever heard is from people who don't like the openly Christian content on a lot of the shows...

Yakov was the one that we saw that was offensive. It was a few years ago so may have changed by now. There was some stuff in one other one also, but can't be sure of which one it was. We have only seen about 6 shows on the strip. The best was the Acrobats of China.

Yakov has surely changed his show...I've seen it a couple of times in the past couple of years and it's patriotic, family oriented and alternates between hurt-your-face funny and not-a-dry-eye-in-the-house patriotic. His sidekick comedian is a local talent and there's Russian dancing (which I personally love)...it's actually one of my favorite shows. I'm really sorry if it was different before, but it's now.
I loved the Acrobats also. Pierce Arrow is a locals favorite...their comedian is THE best. I've seen about half of the shows...the new one that's getting rave reviews is SIX. And Titanic. And of course The Haygoods. Jim Stafford. Dick Clark's American Bandstand Theatre (& 57 Heaven). Dixie Stampede is good for once a year...I like the regular show better than the Christmas Show. A suprizingly good show is Grand Jubilee. Tony Roi is my favorite Elvis. Definitely Liverpool Legends if you loved the Beatles. And Legends if you like impersonators. I could go on and on...like everybody loves Andy Williams...but I fear I wax too eloquent...
Anyway, it's a fun place.

Titanic was great, esp. since we didn't have to pay full price. It was well worth the time & $. They have done an excellent job there, I agree.

Trip Report
Well, we've been here since Saturday evening. We stopped and ate at Lamberts on the way through Springfield. Most of the kids had never been there, so it was especially fun. On Sunday we went to church, and then we drove around (everywhere). Branson Landing, Cape Fair and every place in between. Got confused by the new highway between Kimberling and Reeds Spring. Looked at houses and lots. It's all so beautiful, it's hard to decide what area to focus on.
Yesterday we went to Bass Pro in Springfield in the morning. We spent about 2.5 hours there. The kids had a really good time. Then for the aftermoon, we drove out to Mansfield so my wife and daughter could visit the Laura Engalls Wilder house. After that, we took the scenic route back, and spent some time driving around Rockaway Beach.
Today we going to concentrate on the Kimberling to Reeds Spring area in the morning and then go mini-golfing and go-karting this afternoon.
More to come.....

I can think of a few lines in his show that could be considered innuendo.
The main being when he told of life in Russia and how his family shared a 1-room apt. When his parents wanted to be intimate, they would make him look out the window.
While it is unfortunate it DID offend you, I personally don't find it horrible. He's simply telling about life there.
Knowing Yakov on a personal basis (my wife worked for him for ~3 years), I would say he is one of the most patriotic Americans I've ever met.

Sounds like you are having fun!! The new Hwy 13 is confusing, but pretty isn't it? You should drive down Lakeshore Dr in Kimberling....May be some Lakefront for sale down there with your name on it!!
