Default About time!!

We are coming to the Branson area this Saturday. We being my wife and I and 5 kids ages 9-15. We are staying for a full week. We have been telling the kids about the area and now they will get to experience it for themselves. We are very excited. We are planning to buy season passes to SDC for everyone so we can spend several days there. Other than that, we are open to suggestions from this fine group about other things we shouldn't miss.

Thanks!!

Thanks Darlynn,

We have been looking (virtually) at your neck of the woods. I am interested in the area close to Kimberling and north up to Branson West. I want to be close enough to the water that we won't ever think twice about if it's worth the hassle to go for short periods of time. I also don't want to to be too far from the necessities of life (Walmart) and the schools.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I highly recommend the Shepherd of the Hills Outdoor show if the weather cooperates. There is enough action, live animals, etc. to keep most age of kids interested. Ripley's Believe it or not is good, but you can see it other places. Be sure to tour Marvel Cave at SDC. It often gets overlooked. The jokes are corny, but the cave is pretty neat. There's no extra charge for the cave.

Well...I hope the weather gets better than the last couple of days!

We've seen a record-breaking rain storm here that's causing a lot of flooding...don't drive into water!!! The weather forecast is for yucky & cold...bring coats!

Other than Silver Dollar City, you have lots of choices for fun stuff to do in Branson. A lot of the shows are open and if it warms up & calms down you MUST get out on the lake! Rent a pontoon. You can find rentals at any of the local marinas. The Branson Landing is cool for shopping & lunching...do the kids like to fish?

Please keep us posted about your trip...we just love hearing about people's visits & reactions to our corner of the Ozarks...

L J...

I think Kimberling is perfect! Not too far away from everything, yet quiet and safe! Not to mention the LAKE and how beautiful it is!! Walmart is 15 minutes and lots of new stuff coming our way on the new Hwy 13!! DM me and I will help you any way I can!

Thanks for the tips! I really like caves, so that is a good reminder about Marvel.

Thanks LJ! We really want to get out on the lake. The kids do like to fish.

We are SO anxious to get down there!

Default No lack of fun here...

If your buying tickets for SDC go ahead and buy the season pass for all three "cities"...Celebration city is a big hit with kids of all ages. If your kids like learning vacations, take the tour of the fish hatchery...it's very interesting. If you want to see the lake, hit the Branson Belle. Just the cruise is nice (day time) but the evening dinner cruise and show is actually pretty good and the entertainment has some element of interest for most ages. When we went all of the kids seem to be having a great time.
There's miniature golf, go-carts, water slides, etc. in Branson. If they like to fish, great fishing off the piers near the dam visitors center (and many other places). If they like to shop, hit The Landing. It's a great place to let older kids walk around and they often have street entertainers. They have a playground near Joes Crab shack for the kids.
Ride the ducks....while it sounds hookey it's actually fun. Plus you get to ride on the water and quack like a silly duck.

Stop by the visitors center on Shephard of the Hills Parkway and pick up maps, coupons, and information. There are also lots of "two for one" shops where you can get good deals on tickets for the shows. The shows here are all kid friendly...no booze, no cussing, little/no cleavage.
