Hi all!
The wife and I are moving to Fair Grove / Buffalo area from Tennessee. We have concealed carry permits and are wondering about the process of transferring them from TN To Mo. I'm aware of the reciprocity while traveling but am curious about moving. Any info wil be greatly appreciated!

Currently Missouri does not require a concealed carry permit for non-felons 19 and over. See A look at constitutional carry, Missouri's new gun law .

very true. No permit needed for Missouri! I wish Floriduh were this gun friendly like MO is on everything. I move to FL and the following year you guys pass this when I live

Correct no permit is needed to carry a concealed firearm within the state of Missouri.

However, a permit regardless what state issues it gives you some advantages though.

First, cities can still forbid OPEN carry and make ordinances against open carry. St. Louis city currently has not been enforcing it due to Prop A that passed in 2014, at least that is what the old circuit attorney said regarding it.

However, if you have a conceal carry permit that overrides any ordinance against open carry allowing you to carry that AR15 or Ak in the open.

Also, permit less carry into a prohibited by law location like a sports arena, courthouse, bar, college will get you arrested if caught. With a conceal carry permit it's only a citation for it. BIG protection with the carry permit.

Also very rare instance, but if you're only 18 years old you can still carry concealed with a permit in Missouri if you get a permit from the state of Maine. Maine permit only valid in a few states though.

If you live in most of MO that allows open carry without a permit or only plan on conceal carrying and don't go out much then I'd say just skip the permit.

Otherwise you can still get the ball rolling before moving to MO.

You can apply for a FL, AZ, UT, VA permit before even moving to MO. MO honors permits from all states regardless of residency.

Arizona is the cheapest and easiest and fastest permit to get. FL and VA can take awhile to get. IMO get an AZ permit.

The only protection a Missouri permit will give is in a federal gun free school zone but I have not seen that law ever been enforced and I wouldn't worry about driving past a school and an FBI or ATF agent waiting to catch you.

Next yea a bill will likely be introduced by Jared Taylor again or Eric Burlison in the senate to get rid of gun free school zones. The leading bill only allowed this for permit holders though. There was a second bill that totally eliminated ALL the gun free zones regardless of permit holder or not but it seems the Taylor bill is the one that keeps being pimped.

Checkout the Missouri Firearms Coalition facebook page as well.

Also, in MO vote Republican as well if you like firearms.

The whole idea of needing a permit to BEAR arms which means to carry on ones self is a violation of the US Constitution. We need a case to get to the US Supreme Court to rule on this and basically make these permit$ constitutional.

I hate being required to have a permit here in FL. In FL carrying concealed without a permit is a felony while in MO it's legal.

We sure like our guns in Missouri. That is why we like to carry them with us. They mean so much to us.

But people like Stacey Newman and Jill Schupp don't. Good thing Newman is term limited. She's annoying and also rude as hell too.

I notice on here the anti gunners are always in a bunch about the amount of freedom Missouri lawmakers grant regarding the right to bear arms.

There shouldn't be regulations on the right to BEAR arms like carrying them on one's self.

Hey guys...doing a college visit with my daughter. I'm from Illinois, and have a permit to carry concealed. Anyone know if I can carry on campus? It's a private college.

It's up to the college to allow carry or not.

Most of the big schools in Missouri don't allow carry. Maybe a smaller college might.

Since you have a permit, even if the college doesn't allow carry if you're caught all they can do is write a citation for carrying into the prohibited place.

Down here in Florida they would charge you with a felony.

I would just carry on. Since it's concealed no one will know you got a gun on.

Conservative schools like College of the Ozarks might allow it.

Thanks...If anything, I may use the small pocket gun, unless I see a "no guns" sign.

Colleges can be weird, Missouri Southern has a gun range and has CCW classes there but has a strict policy of no guns on campus. Can't figure how that would work.
