Im New to the Forum, so Big Wave From Wisconsin..soon to be Back in Mo.
after being gone for 35 years.
Well for fun We ( my wife and I ) are very Involved in Off Roading with our Jeeps..We Own 3.. 1 is a 96 Cherokee ( XJ ) 1 is a 79 CJ-7...1 is a 1960 Willy's CJ-5 all Original..
We Love to Explore New trails, and Off Road Parks...
We ALWAYS Respect the environment..we don't trash the woods, or nature.
We belong to a couple of National groups that Protect the environment, as well as the Off Roading areas, and national parks/forests we use.
We meet ,and have alot of friends in this hobby, some are very close to us here in WI, and some are states away..
We meet alot of people Just because of our Jeeps we Drive..My 79 CJ-7 is Purple..lol.and pretty Modified , so it gets alot of questions, and looks..
We always look for Jeep Drivers, and just strike up a conversation with them, and alot of the time we will become friends, and head out trail riding.
we also like to fish, and camp, and always talk to the people we see while out there...we get invited to other camps, and Invite others to our camp site..and in turn make a friend.
also..I'm a Amateur radio Operator..and that will always bring in new friends..
So I guess to Sum it up..We Just strike up a conversation with a total stranger, and alot of the time we make a friend..
But I Will say this...
Missouri ( esp. Southern ) Is the best place in The U.S for friendly People, that will always take the time to talk to strangers.
We Will be moving to the Alba MO. area...Alba is a pop. of about 500 people, and were looking to Pay cash for our house, and just take it easy for the rest of our time here..
It took 35 years for me to get back to MO, but that was always my goal.
So..If ya see a Old Purple Jeep driving around Alba..Wave, or strike up a conversation..I'm sure it will be Me, and I'm sure we can find a cup of coffee some where..
Looking forward to maybe meeting some of ya.

You might think this is strange but I absolutely love the bar atmosphere. Now, before you think I have lost my mind, let me tell you the kind of bar I like. No televisions (good luck finding one like THAT in this day and age), dark (so dark, in fact, you have to stop at the front door for about 30 seconds to let your eyes adjust to the light level), definitely *not* trendy or upscale or any of those awful things.
I like bars that have older guys with polyester pants and foam baseball caps, bars that have juke boxes that have at least ONE Sinatra, Johnny Mathis, Barbra Streisand song, maybe even a Rosemary Clooney! LOL Those are getting harder to find too. There must be at least one or two "regulars" who look the part and, most certainly a bleach-blonde bartender who calls everybody "honey" "sweetie" or "sugar".
If anybody knows a bar like this in the Branson-Springfield area, please DM me. Since they tore down Dillion's Pub downtown, I haven't been able to find a replacement.

The spring and summer time in MO is a great time to meet people. We like to go to the area Farmer's Markets. Also there are lots of little swap meets, craft fairs and such throughout the summer.
If you like to do any craft, strike up a conversation with a crafter that displays items that you are interested in learning to make or discuss crafts that you make.

That's a great suggestion, mamagator...
Another might be to get involved with the local library, join the Art Guild, do some volunteer work like with one of the Chambers of Commerce...or the local animal shelter. Some folks in Kimberling City invented a supper club that meets about once a month...
And there's always the boat docks.

I agree..
there are alot of 4x4's out there now, but %99 of them were made for road use..( snow, Rain, Mud ) etc..but to do any really tough 4x4 Offroad the Jeep is still made as tough, and reliable as the were back in the 40's.
Even the New stuff, like the liberty, Commander..etc can still go Offroad, and come back out in one piece, without snapped axles, or broken drive shafts.
We have seen countless Hummers try to keep up with our jeeps, that ended up getting towed off the trails..mostly Snapped front axles..
I have nothing against any 4X4 out there..just most aren't built as tough as they look, and it can get people hurt, and in serious trouble Offroad
here are the 3 jeeps we own right now..but were looking for another wrangler when we get moved down there..
as a daily driver..right now the Cherokee, and the CJ-7 is our daily drivers..but there Modefied for serious trail work.
so were going to get a stock Wrangler, and just do a small lift, and slightly bigger tires, but keep it a softer ride.
anyway here are the 3 we have right now...we just sold the 02 liberty
79 CJ-7
1960 Willys CJ-5
96 Cherokee ( XJ )
Sorry all for the Off topic..but its not really off topic maybe ?? this is how I meet friends, and what I do for fun..just a little more detail in my explanation..lol

Funny...
I once dropped in on a forum, read some posts, registered, posted and met some really great people!! It was Stats about all US cities - real estate, relocation info, house prices, home value estimator, recent sales, maps, race, income, photos, education, crime, weather, houses, and more !!!!
We started a coffee club, and the rest is history!
Hope to meet more of you SOON!!
