According to US Census Bureau statistics, Branson West lost nearly half its population between 2004 and 2017.. a period when the Branson area in general was certainly growing fast. Iím bewildered by this. Can anyone offer an explanation for such an unexpected loss of population?

????

The 2000 census showed 408 people. The 2010 census showed 478 people. The 2017 census estimate is 453. This represents a decline, but only about five percent. And it is just an estimate.

Many residents are seasonal workers and most are renters. In 2010 the Census bureau reported only 79 owner occupied properties. This leaves a rather large more or less transient population which will fluctuate significantly year to year, or even month to month.
