Default Info about Gainesville?

Hi, all. Just wondering about the Gainesville area in Ozark County from MO folks who are familiar with that town/county. I've been looking for some land in that part of MO via the Internet. I'm familiar with the Ozark Mountains (have relatives living in the Ark. Ozarks). But I'm in Phoenix, AZ and have a longing to move to the MO Ozarks. Things have been getting rather "hairy" in So. AZ for a while.

Info appreciated. Thanks.

Quality of life...crime rate primarily.

I recently read in the Ozark County Times about a meth lab being busted near Gainesville (in the Tecumseh area). Is meth becoming a big scourge in Ozark County?

No, The meth problem has declined in missouri recently. Thats the first meth lab bust here in Ozark county in quite sometime (that I've heard of anyways). Crime here is about like anywhere in a rural area, mostly non-violent theft or minor vandalizm. Gainsville is the county seat and the biggest town in ozark county with a pop. of 630
It has a good supermarket, dollar general, auto parts store, hardward store and lumber yard and some other misc. stores. We have two lakes in the area (bull shoals and norfork), and alot of creeks and rivers. There is also alot of public land, both federal and state land. So alot of outdoor stuff to do.
