Hi, We currently reside in WI and have been looking for a few months at different areas in SW Missouri to relocate to. My husband just sent his resume off to a place in Springfield. We would like 50+ acres with water, preferably live. Home is also preferable but would look at all possibilities. We are looking to relocate on the West side of 65 maybe around Reeds Spring, Spokane, Highlandville, we don't want to be as far up as Nixa. I would also like any info on these towns that anyone is willing to share...good or bad. Any towns inbetween here in the general vicinity that might have promise? We own horses, grow organically, vegie's, herbs, fruit, have one child we will be homeschooling, but would need info about a piano teacher, possible homeschooling groups and Girl Scout Troops. I know allot to ask.
) Thank You and look forward to reading respones!! |

What kind of budget do you have in mind for the land? Most pieces of land that I've seen for sale in that range (50+ acres with some open pasture ground) are priced with the intent to be sub-divided. I know that's not what you want to do, but unfortunately a lot of others are doing exactly that and it's pushing the price of land up in the more desirable places to live.
Fortunately for you, places like Spokane and Highlandville offer significantly cheaper land than you'll find up around Nixa. Are you strictly looking at property south of Springfield? The reason I ask is because you can find cheaper acreage north of town as well. |

Freedomforyou! We get a lot of folks coming down from Wisconsin...you'll probably run into old neighbors at the grocery store...
!In the MLS that covers Stone & Taney & parts of Christian county, I'm seeing homes with acreage that start in the high $200's. Obviously the ones with nicer homes are higher... If you want bare land and will plan to build your home, the least expensive is 80 acres for $99K...and on up depending on terrain, roads, how close to town. As for "live" water...if you're wanting to have a year-round creek or river, it's going to cost...but there's springs & wet weather creeks around on the less expensive land. Good luck with your move...it's a wonderful place to live. ![]() |
