Default Springfield rated high crime area??

Everything you read on the forum says Springfield is a great place to raise kids. So why is it ranked so high for crime on the City-Data? Many of the small towns are ranked high around Springfield.

Live in Phoenix and want to get away from all the crime, illegals etc.

Is Springfield area my answer for lower crime, no illegals, and peace and quiet???

Chellivia is on a distinguished road
Don't expect there to be no illegals here. Unfortunately illegal aliens are migrating to this area (and Northern AR). I think mostly due to jobs in the chicken plants. As far as the crime goes I think it's because this area has a HUGE meth problem. I don't know if it's any worse than the rest of the country.

I moved to this area 11 years ago from Des Moines, IA. I feel much safer here.

I would be interested to know what crimes go into the calculations. I think we have a higher incidence of domestic violence in this area than in other parts of the country. I never feel unsafe in Springfield. There is not violent crime on the news every night like you find in larger cities.

I'm surprised to hear about crime being rated so high. I used to live in Spokane, Washington, and Seattle, and Springfield isn't even in the same league.

I would agree, the meth problem here is bad (along with the rest of the country), but violent crime seems pretty rare, at least as it is reported on tv and the newspaper.

You will be surprised at how "safe old-time America" it feels here.
