Default That other thread got me thinking....

I am wondering about watering holes in Springfield these days. I am the sort that prefers the "old phart" kind of bar. Dark and a little dingy. As few TVs as possible (none would be best). An older crowd. I used to go to the Elbow Room on Republic Rd, once in a while and the Neighborhood Bar (I think that was what it was called) on S. Campbell, but last time I drove by both those places they weren't there any longer.

Anybody in Springfield have any suggestions? I know there are some pretty "interesting" bars on Commercial Street that meet my criteria, but that is a little wilder and woolier than I want to go. Of course, the "downtown" area is out, too many trendy wannabe 20-somethings there.

ideas?

CassyC is on a distinguished road
There is a dive-y bar on Glenstone and Grand (it's kind of hidden - back behind the Kum n Go, going east on Grand) called Archies that you might like. My parents love it. It's an older crowd, sometimes has (real quality) live music (not sure if you'd like that or not) - usually classic rock or blues-y kind of stuff. It's dark, dingy, kind of smells, and the crowd is older, laid-back and friendly.
