Default Soon! My first trip to Springfield ever!!

I'm a comin down next Saturday to visit the area....thinking of relocating from MN.

One thing I'd be interested in doing.....is visiting a few towns, that are those...quaint little historial towns.....the towns that have some wonderful antique stores etc like we have in MN.

Any suggestions?

Sure looking forward to visiting for a few days.

For a 1 hour drive west on I-44, consider Carthage. Saturdays we have a farmer's market on the square, and the Courthouse is something to see. The drive down Grand street shows off some nice Victorian architecture. If you like Precious Moments, the Chapel is just outside of town. We have several antique stores as well as specialty shops. Come check us out!

I agree. Ozark should have a lot of what you're looking for, especially down town around the square.

Springfield proper has lots of antique and thrift stores, although some of them start looking all the same. Many of the suburbs (Republic, Nixa, and Ozark for sure) have shops with great little personalities right on their squares. Enjoy your visit, and good for you for seeking out places to visit other than Bass Pro

You might check out Walnut Grove and Billings. They are both little main-street type towns with flea markets, but they aren't as suburban as Nixa/Ozark/Republic. Reeds Spring is also great. If you go there, stop by Papouli's. It is a wonderful family-owned Greek restaurant.

Hi, River Wood!

I hope your trip is wonderful! Everyone has already given you the answers I would give...at least, for SW MO.

Are you flying into Springfield, driving in or what? Are you limiting your visit to SW MO? Are you traveling alone?
Do you have a family? Will you be retiring? We might think of some other things to share if we know more.

Hahaha! I always ask so many questions! Hopefully, it'll wind up being to your benefit.

Let us know how it goes!

MrsG
