Cool First time in the Joplin Area

A couple of friends and I will be visiting the Joplin area next weekend. We're from Houston, Tx and this will be our first time in the Joplin area. We love to party and we're trying to find some hot spots, either in Joplin or somewhere in that area. Can anyone give me some ideas on the cool spots up there? Please help!

My personal favorite is a small, quirky bar called Turtleheads on South Main. It has a sort of biker-bar feel, but draws a variety of crowds, mostly of the "older" set (not many 20-somethings). The front part is a restaurant with a pool table. They serve mostly Cajun-style food. The back part is a tiki bar with tables, dance floor and stage. It has a retractable roof which they roll back during nice weather. Live bands play Thurs. Fri. and Sat nite.,mostly old rock. You can order food here too. This place has become a favorite for our group of float trippers.

If gambling is to your taste, there is a brand-new casino called Downstream just west of Joplin on I-44. Live music here too sometimes.

The Kitchen Pass on Main street and Guitars on 7th street are also popular dance/music clubs

There is the Downstream casino just about 10 miles west of joplin down I-44 to the OK border. Rangeline is where most hot spots are, but beware of traffic, It's horrible!

I thought Texas had everything, but here's proof that life in the Lone Star State is so boring, folks have to leave there and drive all the way to Joplin, MO, to find either a cool spot or a hot spot to drink and dance.
