Springfield, Seymour, Mansfield, Marshfield.
WEll we made it to missouri. It is a beautiful state and the people that live there are the friendliest i've ever seen. We only ran into one crabby person and he was an old man that honked and yelled at a guy in front of him for taking too long at a stop sign. lol..Other than the grouch everyone went above and beyond what i've seen in people. Missouri people I want to thank you for your kindness..
NOw the towns were visited. Springfield..what we seen of it was a very clean nice place. It would def be a nice place for someone that wanted to live in a place that had lots of places to eat..places to shop ect..
Mansfield..was a nice lil town with that small town feel..i really liked this lil town..
Seymour..was a really nice town..the people there were extra friendly..the town was clean..and from what we were told the schools are excellent..
That said we have decided to just visit missouri instead of moving there. I loved it..loved the people but was so homesick. I don't know why but once i got there..i wanted to be home so bad I couldn't stand it. I realized I didn't like not knowing how to get somewhere and didn't like not knowing a single person lol..so for now we are going to stay put here in INdiana..
But for those that don't mind change..I'd def say missouri has alot of things to do..and the nicest people..

Some people are like a barn soured horse and some are like a redbone hound. Nothin wrong with either. Now you can plan a trip back and see the really Great Places
Missouri has to offer.

Can you please 'splain this to me? I'm a native Cali girl (although my family roots go way back in the Ozarks....) However, I DO own a Beagle, so I'm pretty sure I get the reference to the redbone hound (hounds like to wander.... follow their nose.... etc...)
Thanks!

A barn sour horse is horse that enjoys a nice trail ride every now-and-again but as soon
as you turn her nose back to the barn she can't get back there fast enough. And of course, a redbone always believes there a hotter track just over that next hill.

local accent
What would you consider the local accent in the Mansfield area to be? Southern?, Midwestern? I really like the way it sounds.

Oh, how wonderful that you were able to figure that out without actually moving! It is hard to leave everything you've known...
You're right, Missouri is a wonderful place to visit...and you did, indeed, miss the best parts. Do schedule a trip to the Branson area. Late spring & late summer through Christmas are my favorite times...

Its also amazing how quickly the accent changes when you cross into Arkansas. You'll hear a real southern accent just across the state line (even between Thayer, MO and Mammoth Spring, AR, which are 2 miles apart!). A lot of people in the Missouri Ozarks definitely do have a accent, but its not a southern accent, more of a Midwestern drawl, with some distinctive Ozark twang thrown in. Although I grew up in the Ozarks, I have no accent whatsoever besides a typical American one, and a lot of my friends from the Ozarks don't either.

Nah. The expert I'm talking about takes it way more seriously than that.
Hint: He's a kid from St. Louis.
