We've only tried one motel in Springfield - - the Clarion. It is a little hard to get to the first time. You can see it from Glenstone but I had a hard time figuring out where to turn in. We thought it was nice after we got there, though. It was quiet and the fitness center was convenient and nice, with a treadmill, exercycle, machines, and TV, and it seems like it is always empty. They have high speed internet access (I don't recall if it was wireless or wired, but it was easy to connect to it and free). There are a lot of restaurants nearby, and it is convenient to major streets and highways. It isn't right next to MSU, but it's only a few minutes' drive, I suppose. When you register, they give you free coupons for a very nice breakfast buffet at the hotel restaurant.
I would imagine that the other accomodations listed by Randy are probably nice as well. We just tried the Clarion at random, more or less, and like it. Maybe we'll try another next time just for fun.
