Well,Nexxie,
I just found this here site today. I was born and raised in Grovespring. That's about 15mi. north of Hartville. My Mom was born and raised in Hartville. My Dad was born and raised in Grovespring. My point is, I know a little about the area. My advice to you is move to a bigger city. The people in Wright County are as nice and friendly as they come. But we like things around here just the way the are, and we don't want them to ever change. We love our cafe's & our MFA's !!!! That's all the eaten' & shoppen' we want around close to us. FYI, The OZARK MOUNTAINS is the most beautiful place on earth! If ya don't agree, us hillbilly's are glad to hear it. The reason we think it's so beautiful, is cause it's the only place that's still just "OURS" !

I agree, I moved to Crane, Mo from Sedalia Mo two years ago. I love it here! The hills are beautiful no matter what season. The air we breath isn't so full of polution. Your never bored with all the lakes, rivers, and Branson entertainment in driving distance. We have a grocery store, Dollar General, and few places to eat, a doctor's office, pharmacy, school ....ect. Small town USA at it's finest! I wouldn't move back to a bigger town for anything, I have it all right here.

And I womder to myself "Have they ever been there?". Or for that matter, have they ever been anywhere outside of this area? Most of the people who fall into this category are basing their views on second hand information "someone said it and they heard it". The Ozarks has its good points as previously mentioned but I've been all over the Ozarks and I have yet to find a place more beautiful than many I've been to in the Rockies. Not even close.
Lived in Colorado and California hated them both give me the Ozarks any day.

Been to both. Grew up in Georgia and Illinois. Grandparents lived in Kentucky and Tennessee. I still prefer the Ozarks to any of em.

FYI Most Missourians say "it's the most beautiful place on earth". I used to chuckle inside because when you ask them where else they have been or what they have to compare it to none have ever even left the state of Missouri or the area!!! Most of you have never even been on a vacation!! (uneducated poor rural lifestyle is probably the reason for this) There are many other ways of living and places to live. Unless you have experienced them, LIKE I HAVE, don't judge. You Missourians have a great fear that outsiders are there to change things. It's so far from the truth... Don't judge us city folk for having the means and ability to EXPERIENCE!!! My work in the Ozarks is done now. I'm back to my beautiful sandy beaches now.

Happy you landed back in "your" kind of place. Happy for us, that is. You've not been missed. Now be off with you.

Why do so many 'city people' seem to overlook the fact that cities are also filled with uneducated, impoverished residents that have never been fifty miles from home, can't afford vacations, and have never experienced anything other than inner city living?
What is with this idea that somehow people living in cities are inherently better and more worldly than their rural counterparts?

Do you speak as you write and if so did you kiss you mother with that mouth? Condescension does not become you. Just because folks are from Missouri or choose it over other places doesn't mean they are not more wordly than your snobby little backside. Good riddance to bad rubbish!

Nexxie,
As you should well know, there are alot of "city Folks" that are just such as you describe. Our prisons are full of gang bangers from the city, who have never left thier "hood" and live and die by "Street Cred". At least those rural folks don't kill and rob you.

Hooray! Glad you're back in the city. Now, listen, I get the impression that you are young and immature. Something tells me that in a couple of decades (or less), you're going to grow up and learn some things about life. You're going to be on city-data talking about how you are tired of the rat race of urban life, how crime is rampant in your neighborhood, how taxes are so high, etc. You'll be looking for a cheap place to live. You'll be telling us how you miss the country life and you want to move back. You're very predictable.
