Umm excuse me but there are plenty of tents in the parks of San Francisco. You set up your tent in the park, and by-god they'll use my tax money to help feed you.. Tell you it's not your fault and that help is on the way. Might even set you up in apt, complex give you food stamps and tell you how it's all Ronald Reagan's fault that your a crack head without any motivation....

Hi, I noticed your post. When we retired from the military and moved to southwest missouri, I thought I would die. All I could talk about was moving. My mother always said be careful what you wish for. My husband became ill and we had to move to Texas where are children are.I never realized how lucky I was back in Mo, where people wave and say hi. And where neighors are alway willing to give a helping hand and not want anything in return. Give it time I promise you will love it.

Now that's what I like to hear -- not your husband's troubles and yours but the good about Missouri, especially the people.
I hope your husband gets better soon and one day the two of you can move back.

It's sad that Missoui has turned into a "Left-Wing-Liberal" nutcase state (St. Louis/KC/Columbia)... very, very sad. That being said... you won't find that type of thinking in Southern MO! Since the election, it must be getting extremely difficult to find any kind of job there... same as California. Sometimes folks... "you get what you ask for."

Some of us have put our lives on the line for those Left-Wing-Liberal" nutcases as well as all the other non liberal nutcases or whatever nutcases that may grace this wonderful nation. It's the beauty of America to be able to live the way one wishes.
If you want to get mad about something get mad about the millions we send overseas to make sure they have jobs, food, medical care and an education while millions of Americans are losing everything or a kid that wants to go to college and can't because his family can't afford it. Some people that are living in tents in this nation couldn't help it or stop the circumstances that lead to it.
I apologize if I am off topic but I am so sick of hear this "right-left wing" BS it's divisive to the nation and hinders us from focusing on the real problems.

Excellent post. I also find the increased 'give-away' of taxpayers $$$ to countries and nations totally offensive at a time when our economy is drastically suffering. And have you noticed the gratification and appreciation being shown towards us by these recipients??? Of course not. Who loves us???
Isn't it written somewhere about show a man how to fish as opposed to keep giving him fish? Anyway, while I'm off topic here, the SW part of Missouri is a great example of people appreciating what they have. Natives and transplants alike have melded together to provide a precedent for others to follow. If I could talk my DH to move, Springfield/Branson, here we come.
I mean take a look at Lake Junkie...now there's a gal whom has shown her dedication and love of Missouri sometimes even missing among some of us 'natives'.

Ditto to everything you said. We will have the privilege of meeting with Lake Junkie in a couple of weeks to find our own little piece of contentment. We can hardly wait to move!
