Springfield Job Market
I am divorcing and moving back to my hometown, Springfield. I haven't been there in years, and with the economy am really nervous about the move. How is the job market there? Has there been a lot of job loss?? What about housing? I'd be renting at first, and I have 3 young children. Any information would be helpful. Thanks

Good luck. I moved here in September and have applied for so many jobs I lost count. I have 8 years experience in a hospital front office setting and I have a BS degree plus I am currently working on my MBA. I haven't had an ounce of luck and I have only had about 4 interviews I am not sure what I am doing wrong or if this job market is just extremely competitve. Housing isnt' too bad I just came from AZ so it is alot cheaper there are several houses near me that have signs up let me know if you want the phone numbers off them.

Job market isn't the greatest, but fortunately housing isn't hard to find or that expensive. You can usually find a nice house within 20 minutes of Springfield for $100k or less.

What type of work are you looking for?
I'm not familiar with housing prices or rent in Riverton, WY but I would assume that you will be pleased with the options here in the Springfield area.

Work in this neck of the woods is low, and the wages are low, but the housing is very affordable

Based on what information? You have no clue what field she is in since she hasn't yet told us. So there is no possible way to know where the median wage is for her. Generally speaking, the wages in this area are surprisingly GOOD, you just have to have some experience or background in something. You don't anything for free around here. Nope, no handouts. Gotta work for what you get.

Not sure what the rules are for sharing this kind of information on the forum but I currently work at TeleTech and we have been filling PC tech-related positions for a while (had a LOT of openings back in December). I know that a new class is starting sometime in January (4-5 weeks) and that you need at least some pc background but don't need to be a super-tech because you do get very good training. If someone is looking for an adventure (not just a job) you might consider TeleTech. It is a call center environment and not for everybody, but the company is healthy (especially important in this economy) and we're very optimistic about the future.
