I believe the best way to make a living in this area is to start your own business, especially with your husband's skills.
I have a friend who moved here a year ago from Phoenix and decided to do that. He drove around with a "work wanted" sign on his truck until he was so busy he had to take it off!
Many many people do this here, they work hard the first year to build their clientele, then they are as busy as they want to be!
