Default Barton County, Liberal, etc.

Does anybody have information on employment/housing (apartments) in Barton County, specifically the town of Liberal? What are the primary types of jobs there and are apartments easy to find/affordable? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Liberal is a very small town, maybe even too small to be looking for both residence and work. Maybe residence, but I doubt work, unless you can work for minimum wage. There just isn't really that much there. With a population somewhere around 700 it's going to be tough. Not trying to be Negative Nancy here, but it would probably be easier if you lived in Lamar, or even Pittsburg.

Default Lamar

Thanks for the reply. I guess if I'm interested in that area, I should be looking at Lamar.

Actually Lamar is not really hoppin with jobs either. They do have a Super-Walmart off of 71 and a few restaurants/fast food places. There is one elementary school (k-2) and a secondary (3-5) a middle school and a high school. Lamar is about 4,000 and has lots of rural business. Last year their biggest manufacturing plant closed down, leaving over almost 1,000 without jobs (I used to work there). I believe Pittsburg Ks. is about 20 minutes from Liberal (30 from Lamar). Nevada is Just North of Liberal and there is Joplin (I live now) around 30 to 40 minutes South of Liberal. So there are lots of surrounding towns, the two you mentioned would be close to the bottom of the job list.
